Barack Obama Wants To “Curate” Your News Feed
Fits News ^ | 14 October 2016

As the corporate-owned, liberal legacy media continues its “all in” offensive to get Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, elected president, the man she would replace in the oval office is going on the offensive against alternative news sources.

“We are going to have to rebuild within this ‘Wild, Wild West’ of information flow some sort of curating function that people agree to,” U.S. president Barack Obama said on Thursday during a speech in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Wait … what?

“Curating function?” That sounds an awful lot like censorship to us …

While Obama claimed he was not embracing censorship, he said “there has to be, I think, some sort of way in which we can sort through information that passes some basic truthiness tests and those that we have to discard, because they just don’t have any basis in anything that’s actually happening in the world.”

What would the Dems have done if President Bush declared that he was going to have the Department of Homeland Security sit in the editorial and press rooms of the New York Times and Washington Post and "curate" them?

Curating function ............................. Errrr? Is it like having 90% of the media only printing what the government wants printed, and 10% of the other media who is allowed to print free will only be permitted if they clear with the white house first, and are not to print anything that would cause harm to the existing government. Hmmmm, thought control, or the 3rd Reich part deau?

HClinton was wanting a ‘gatekeeper’ for the Internet in the late 90s.

Obama has mentioned that ‘curator’ function before.

From 2013:

The Federal Communications Commission is planning a probe of political speech across media platforms.

The "Multi-Market Study of Critical Information Needs" will embed government researchers in news media organizations to collect information on demographics, point of view, news topic selection, management style and other factors.

The information is then numerically encoded according to how well, in the FCC’s view, it meets the "critical information needs" of particular "communities."

The study identified eight "critical information needs": information about emergencies and risks; health and welfare; education; transportation; economic opportunities; the environment; civic information; and political information.

The FCC awarded the contract for the study to Silver Spring, Maryland-based Social Solutions International. According to a May article in Communications Daily, Social Solutions International will be paid $917,823.

Social Solutions International says that in addition to its general evaluation of news content, the survey will include a "qualitative component" featuring interrogations of news organization owners, management and employees.

Among the questions:

For media owners: "What is the news philosophy of the station?"

For editors, producers and managers: "Do you have any reporters or editors assigned to topic ‘beats’? If so how many and what are the beats?" "Who decides which stories are covered?"

For reporters: "Have you ever suggested coverage of what you consider a story with critical information for your customers (viewers, listeners, readers) that was rejected by management?" (Followup questions ask the reporter to speculate on why a particular story was spiked.)

It’s scarier than just curate. That’s just a fancy word for government censored.

Our politicians can’t be trusted. The media leaders can’t be trusted. None of the quasi government agency can be trusted.

The is no place for government to ‘sort through’ the news. An educated electorate should be able to do that for itself. Of course, the government really screwed up education. Funny how it all works out.

Not satire. WCNY in the Syracuse, NY area airs a local opinion show called Ivory Tower. On Friday night’s program, one of the professor/panelists from area colleges said that the trouble with the Wikileaks material being released about Hillary’s e-mails is that it is uncurated. I’m calling this a meme in the making. The new politically correct view we will hear from multiple news outlets is that our information must come to us managed and approved by our betters.
