But, but, didn’t The One play very nice with both of these countries recently?

I don’t see how the U.S. can have bases on Russia’s doorstep in eastern Europe, but then try to complain if Russia does the same? Cuba can just as much invite Russia in as Latvia can us.

Even with Obozo still in office, I don’t think Cuba wants to go back to total dependency on Russia, and that’s exactly what would happen if Cuba let Russian military bases back in. With warming relations with the US, Cuba wants, and needs, US investment dollars to bootstrap its economy, in terms of tourism, sugar, and other Cuban products.

It’s like old times! Did the USN store any of the mines they removed from Haiphong Harbour? Economizing’s important.

Russia is slapping the US because they can. They know how weak our leaders are. Such a shame. Hopefully, Nov. 8th will turn this around.

While Vietnam is an economic basket case and will welcome “investment” from just about anyone, I’d think they would nix a Russian military base because of the joint Chicom/Rooskie naval exercises a couple of weeks ago. They might let them build some commercial ports and land transport hubs, though.

The Cubans, and Venezuelans, however, don’t care what Obama thinks, so bases there are probably a done deal. Heck, the Venezuelans have already let Iran build facilities there.

Vietnam does not allow any countries to establish a military base in the country, Foreign Ministry’s Spokesperson Le Hai Binh has stated

However, US, Japanese and French warships have recently made port calls at Cam Ranh.
