Don’t forget Bush wasn’t in office on the 20th because of Florida ballots being contested by the left. Good old Gore and the DNC fought that election for months.

Sorry but that is wrong in specific about Bush'43 Inauguration on Jan 20th, 2001 while being overall correct about the government transition. The exceedingly tedious and tendentious Florida count was kept running as Al Gore's legal team tried to 'cherry-pick' local votes they thought would favor their protests. One such site was the Democrat-dominated Miami-Dade County, where the Election Board, all 'D', had voted to do a sequestered recount without GOP representation, until publicized and filmed crowds forced an open session (Brooks Brother Riot).

The heavily 'D' Florida Supreme Court kept allowing and even pushing, on its own, recount activities, all the way to December 8th when, by a 4-3 vote, they ordered a full recount, in Tallahassee, of ALL VOTES BUT would only count the changes from 'under-votes' (votes where no president preference had been recorded)! That was when the US Supreme Court, under the already open case of Bush v Gore, stopped the Florida 'recount', 5-4 ruling with usual suspects, and then on 12/12/00, ruled that the prior certification by the Florida Secretary of State of Bush'43 winning, should stand.

The end results was this, since the results were legally ambiguous, NO TRANSITION funds or efforts could be done until 12/13/00, so the normal changeover was delayed by at least a month. While the top-level positions (cabinet and White House) were already determined, many, many lower levels had to wait as candidates for those jobs were not about to resign for just a possible opening. Add to that the very BITTER entrenched 'D' office holders and legislators, and you had a poison scenario that almost certainly had an effect on 09/11!

and, don’t forget, also, that due to the Clintonista’s obfuscation and obstruction, W was not able to put any cabinet members in place for many months. I believe the new Attorney General was in office something like two days on 09/11/2001!

The unfortunate reality is that once policies become the “new normal”, woven into how things are done, they are hard to see and harder to root out. It takes time for shortcomings to become obvious and often requires a problem to focus enough energy to change them. I fault Bush and his group for failing to understand that an active effort to purge Clinton era damage was required urgently.

Obama has probably erected a thousand Gorelick Wall equivalents across all divisions of government. They are probably unknown to all but a few insiders, just like Gorelick’s actions before the 9-11 debacle. The permanent bureaucracy is heavily stocked with Obama and Hillary supporters who will do their best to hang on and preserve Obama’s legacy of ruin.

When Trump takes office, he’ll have his hands full just trying to get the economy and foreign affairs on track. He should select someone to head a network of search and destroy teams within all cabinet departments to ID disastrous policies and personnel, and undo them. Some will require legislation. Every single one will have a constituency, and the news media will bewail the threat to starving children, the return to Jim Crow, etc. But let’s hope the usual inertia will not allow these things to set up the next 9-11.

Revisionist history on our part does us no favors. Most of the significant Presidential Cabinet and top-level White House positions were filled quickly in 2001. Attorney General (AG) Janet Reno resigned on 01/20/01 and, believe it or not, acting AG Eric Holder served till AG John Ashcroft was confirmed by the US Senate on 02/02/01.

It was the 2nd and below tiers that were severely effected by the obstructions following the Florida 2000 election mess. As I stated in my prior post, you had people who were working other jobs that had to wait to see if Bush would actually take office. Then their confirmations with the US Senate had to be scheduled and with the poison well from that PLUS a 50-50 Senate till June 2001, these confirmations became problematical. Then with 'Jumpin Jim' Jeffords moving to give the 'D' a 1 vote majority in June, it got worse!
