The FBI investigation was a farce. Even the Keystone Cops could have done a more rigorous investigation ... Comey was bought and paid for and made every effort to give the appearance of an investigation while perpetuating the cover up.

I've used that format many times, and I always thought it made more sense to go with day-month-year or year-month-day than month-day-year, even though that's how we usually express a date in English.
