Operations in the Levant (1516)

The Ottomans first captured the city of Diyarbekir in southeastern Anatolia.[2] The Battle of Marj Dabiq (24 August 1516) was decisive, in which the Mamluk ruler Kansuh al-Ghuri was killed.[2] The Ottomans apparently outnumbered the Mamluks by a factor of 3 to 1.[6] Syria fell under the rule of the Ottomans with this single battle.[6]

The Battle of Yaunis Khan occurred near Gaza (1516) and was again a defeat for the Mamluks.

This is eerie, creepy, or just plain significant -- does anyone think that Erdogan is not aware of this anniversary??

August 24, 2016: Turkey sends tanks into Syria exactly 500 years to the day after the battle in which the Ottamans defeated the Mamluks in what is now Syria, and took over rule of Syria and provinces all the way down to Egypt for centuries to come as a new "Caliphate."

I don't necessarily think that Erdogan intends to keep going south (how could he deal with Israel militarily???), but as a devoted Islamist he probably is aiming to establish a new Caliphate one way or another. Achieving dominance in Syria would be a big step toward being recognized by fellow Muslims as the Caliph annointed by Allah.

Anyway, why would he pick the 500th anniversary of the Battle of Marj Dabiq to launch military ground operations in Syria??

Battle anniversaries (for successful battles) are incredibly important to Muslims, since they see them as displaying the favorable will of Allah.

I was alerted to this factoid by this "meme" image that someone put out on the web:

I really don’t think Erdogan could re-create anything like a new Ottoman Empire in the imminent future, he doesn’t have the power, but he does want to be recognized as the new “Caliph” I suspect.....

Predicted by Rabbi Yehudah Ben Shmuel some 300 years before it happened.

12TH-CENTURY RABBI PREDICTED ISRAEL’S FUTURE
http://www.wnd.com/2012/11/12th-century-rabbi-predicted-israels-future/

He died in 1217.

His predictions were the following based on the status of Jerusalem and the Jubilees (50 year spans of time).

1. Jerusalem would be occupied by the Turks for eight Jubilees. The Turks did hold Jerusalem from 1517 to 1917.

2. Jerusalem would become ownerless for one Jubilee. This happened from 1917 to 1967.

3. Jerusalem would be in the hands of Jews again in the 9th Jubilee. This occurred in 1967 until current time (2016). This 9th Jubilee period would be the leading up to the End Times.

4. During the 10th Jubilee Jews would control Jerusalem and the End Times would begin. This should be right about 2017.

I keep thinking of that sci-fi spinoff British TV show, “Torchwood,” that ran from 2006 to 2011 that had a very memorable intro in which they said...

“The 21st century is when everything changes - and Torchwood is ready.”

Are you ready?

“he doesn’t have the power”

Alone, no. However, what if he isn’t acting alone? Reportedly Russia tipped him off about that “coup”. Now he’s moved into Syria, supposedly under active Russian military protection, and the Russians haven’t lifted a finger to stop it. I think that can only mean Turkey, Russia, and Iran are unofficially allies now.

good points, although Russia and Iran also sponsor Assad, so they may not be interested in having Turkey take too much of Syria.... but enough to eliminate a lot of Assad’s opposition?? Could be the new play.

Erdogan opposed Assad, though, messy situation!

Turkey invades Syria
Turkey has reportedly struck 63 targets in Syria this morning, in a vengeance attack on ISIS in Jarablus.
24AUG2016
http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/216865

Turkey’s army and international coalition forces on Wednesday started an operation to drive Islamic State jihadists out of a key Syrian border town, a statement from the Turkish prime minister’s office said.

“The Turkish Armed Forces and the International Coalition Air Forces have launched a military operation aimed at clearing the district of Jarablus of the province of Aleppo from the terrorist organisation Daesh,” it added, using an Arabic acronym for IS group.

The state-run news agency Anadolu said the operation began at around 4 am local time (0100 GMT).

Turkish F-16 jets dropped bombs on IS targets in Jarablus — the first such assault since a November crisis with Russia sparked by the downing of one of Moscow’s warplanes by the Turkish air force, the private NTV television reported.

Security sources quoted by Turkish television said a small contingent of special forces travelled a few kilometres into Syria to secure the area before a possible operation.

Broadcaster CNN-Turk reported that Turkish artillery hit 63 targets in Syria.

Several mortar rounds from IS-held Jarablus hit the Turkish border town of Karkamis on Tuesday, prompting the army to pound the jihadist positions on Syrian soil with artillery strikes.

Looks like WW3 is more imminent than ever based on what Natan saw when he died last year on the first night of Sukkot for 15 minutes and returned.

In their heyday during the 13th century, the Mamluks defeated the Mongols at Ain Jalut, in what is now Israel, in 1260 and finally drove the Crusaders out of the Holy Land in 1291.
