What an awful trend, rbg! Is it because they’ve been so coddled all their life? Don’t they work at jobs during their summer vacations? I worked in high school. Hated it, I admit, although when I look back on it I was practically running the clothes department at A&S! I wish I had the super math skills today I had then!
It seems to me the ones going this route have a lot of anxiety about getting a real job. Are they coddled by someone? Probably, but my insight is limited. The sad thing is that these kids are above average in terms of the other students. So, if they got their act together, they could probably end up doing pretty well. In the end, they are their own worst enemy.
