We’re just not hearing about the death squads yet. I’ll guarantee you they exist because what respectable Socialist Latin American dictatorship doesn’t have death squads?
Well, the word “purge” could have several meanings. The workers could be fired by execution or disappearance.
Coming soon to a State, Local or Federal Government near you.
Venezuela continuing the downward spiral...
Assuming these ‘purged’ citizens will be allowed by Maduro to live: Is there really a difference between having a job in Venezuela and earning worthless money and not having having a job and not earning worthless money?
Purge = disappered
They do have death squads. A year or so ago there was an article about an elderly veteran who held off the death squad that had been sent to “arrest” him.
I had the pleasure of working with many, many Venezuelans in the US who signed the original petition against Hugo Chavez and were barred from working in Venezuela pretty much forever. Their names were in a database and even to transact business with any government entity up it pops that you are a traitor and good luck with that.
The database was available on CD everywhere, even in the streets for $2.
So thousands of them had to work off the books through a friend or relative, or leave the country. Even working for a foreign company inside Venezuela didn’t work, they would get a memo from the government requiring them to fire you or lose their contract.
So now the regime’s own people, the ones who were loyal Chavists, are now feeling the Bern. With the current economy, losing your government job is tantamount to a trip to tropical Siberia.
You cannot distinguish the difference between Venezuela and a communist state.
