Evan Bayh mounting Senate return (IN)

Evan Bayh is mounting a return bid to the U.S. Senate, giving national Democrats a boost as they aim to retake the chamber in November.

An announcement about Bayh's candidacy for the Indiana Senate seat is expected soon, said a source familiar with the plans said on condition of anonymity because they will not be released publicly until later Monday. Initially expected Monday, the formal announcement has been delayed because of logistics.

National Democratic leaders have encouraged Bayh to run for more than a year, ever since incumbent GOP Sen. Dan Coats announced he would not run again.

Sen. Chuck Schumer, who is in line to be the Senate Democratic Leader after Sen. Harry Reid retires, heavily lobbied Bayh to get in the race, said a Senate Democratic source familiar with the effort. Bayh was dismissive at first, insistent he was done with public life, but Monday's announcement will mark a significant victory for Senate Democratic recruiters.

Great job, Mitch, dragging Dan Coats out of retirement to run for the Senate in 2010, only so he could retire AGAIN in 2016, leaving an open seat.

But whatever it took to keep Marlin Stutzman out of the Senate.

Better a democrat in the Senate than a conservative, eh, Mitch!!

I like Evan Bayh, but I see this as an act of TRUE DESPERATION on the part of the Indiana Democratic Party.

The NATIONAL Democratic Party literally HATES this guy. The Nutjob Left ran him out of DC on a rail, if you will recall. He didn’t toe the Academic Socialist Party Line.

The “D” candidate was floundering, and Todd Young was cruising to an easy win. Bayh brings in a whole new dimension. He and Manchin will likely form the “Not Insane Democrats Caucus”.

Bayh desperately wanted to be Hillary’s VP.

The Clinton Crime Family obviously told him “you’re too white fella, we gotta go with some ‘hood action for November”.

Since Evvie lives in DC anyway, why not a Senate gig.

I like both Bayh and Manchin. Reasonable people, but you’re right, the Left hates them.

Reid and Chuckie Shrumers endorsement should kill off Bayhs chances if there is any righteousness

Bayh has been a no show around Indiana for many years as he and his wife are classic DC insiders.

He did get his lackey Joe “hog trough” Hogsett elected mayor of Indianapolis last fall, but that hasn’t gone well. Shootings are up 25% for the first 6 months of his term, his kid was arrested for drugs, and his “media liason” tried to run a woman over with his car.

Bayh and Coats are tag team. Coats quit in 98’(age 53) because he knew he would lose. 12 years later Bayh quits and Coats comes back. Now Coats quits again (age 71?) and Bayh -age 61 is ready again. Bottom line: Indiana is red and Bayh has no business winning.

The negatives I’ve found online on Bayh are these:

“Evan Bayh is a lobbyist who backed the Obama agenda 96 percent of the time as he left the Senate in 2010...”

Don Coats ....says “Bayh wants to continue the failed Obama-Clinton policies of the past eight years.”

and...Coats also said that “...the one thing Democrats don’t realize and haven’t thought about is how many young people have never cast a ballot with Evan Bayh on it,”

<><><>

I fr mailed my above to a freeper here who resides in Indiana and asked (yesterday) who she thinks will win; Young or Bayh

The reply came back: Young.
:)
