Judith Miller Recants; Where's the Media?
Real Clear Politics ^ | April 18, 2015 | Peter Berkowitz

Posted on 07/10/2016 4:50:55 PM PDT by Enchante

In “The Story: A Reporter’s Journey,” which hit book store shelves Tuesday, April 7, former New York Times reporter Judith Miller revealed in the final chapter that she now believes that she was induced by then-Special Counsel Patrick J. Fitzgerald to give false testimony in the 2007 trial of I. “Lewis” Scooter Libby, former chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney.

Given that Fitzgerald’s three-and-a-half year-long investigation and prosecution of Libby riveted the nation’s capital and generated vast news coverage implying, when not outright declaring, that the Bush administration lied the nation into war, one might think that recantation of testimony by a pivotal prosecution witness would command attention and excite controversy.

from 2015, but important and totally neglected by the MSM .... interesting to compare to the mess that Comey has made of the Hillary investigation. Patrick Fitzgerald was Comey's bud and also had enjoyed that "non-partisan straight shooter" reputation.... yet he totally botched the Plame-Wilson investigation (intentionally????) and sent an innocent man (Libby) to prison.

With or without any of this Judith Miller is not credible. She’s simply a propagandist. Whenever she shows up on a TV channel, I change channels or turn the TV off. I definitely do not read or respect anything from her.

There was no crime in the lame plame deal. She was not protected by any law that made it illegal to reveal her name. She continued at the same jobs for several years after the fake but accurate outing. She quit her job once she got a big book deal. The book deal fell apart once it became obvious Karl Rove would not be frog marched off to jail.

Patrick Fitzgerald convicted Marc Rich of the largest tax fraud in US history. He was a bit miffed when Scooter got him a pardon by bribing Clinton. Fitzgerald got revenge by charging Scooter with some bs crime.

The whole thing was the biggest farce I have ever seen.

And of course the wuss W just sat back and let it all happen. I knew then that he was on the other side,.

Wasn’t this the New York Times reporter who helped get us into the Iraq war? Why is anyone listening to her?

Scooter bribed Clinton for Rich’s pardon?? That’s the first I’ve heard of that happening. I don’t recall any FR threads on it either. Happen to have a link?

To clarify, it was Rich who did the bribing. ( allegedly, as the investigation into it was stopped)

Well, what did Scooter Libby have to do with the pardon? We know Rich did the bribing, but where did Libby fit in?

This is the first I have heard of Libby being connected at all with Marc Rich.

During hearings after Rich’s pardon, Lewis “Scooter” Libby, who had represented Rich from 1985 until the spring of 2000, denied that Rich had violated the tax laws, but criticized him for trading with Iran at a time when that country was holding U.S. hostages. In his letter to the New York Times, Bill Clinton explained why he pardoned Rich, noting that U.S. tax professors Bernard Wolfman of Harvard Law School and Martin Ginsburg of Georgetown University Law Center concluded that no crime was committed, and that the companies’ tax reporting position was reasonable. [New York Times, February 18, 2001][2]. In the same letter Clinton listed Libby as one of three “distinguished Republican lawyers” who supported Rich’s pardon.

Judith Miller, liberal hack who has found a home, where else, at Fox News. FNC is loaded with liberal hacks. Why the Left hates FNC is a mystery.

You’re making it sound like Libby is not an innocent victim.

Not at all. He was just doing his job as Rich’s attorney. Fitzgerald took it personally and hit him with a fake but accurate charge in a case where there was no underlying crime committed.
