On July 12, that grande latte with an extra shot may cost more than usual.

Starbucks is planning a price hike on select beverages later this month, which could see the cost of some drinks increase by as much as 30 cents.

But some customers may have prematurely shelled out a bit more for their morning brew.

According to a news release, the company accidentally implemented the higher prices ahead of time due to a computer glitch, resulting in some customers being overcharged at certain locations.

“On July 12, Starbucks is planning a small price increase on select beverages. Unfortunately, that price adjustment was prematurely entered into the point of sale systems in our U.S. company-operated stores. As a result, some customers were charged incorrectly.

I wonder how the lawsuit filed by the woman suing Starbucks because her expensive drink was mostly ice is going?

I never heard of the suit but she should be fined for wasting the court’s time.

Anyone dumb enough to pay Starbucks prices for coffee deserves to be separated from their money.

You can get free coffee from the pro desk of lowes, many sherwin williams stores, most auto repair places, and a ton of other places.

Seven or so years ago, I bought a nice espresso machine, two coffee mills, and a milk heater/frother (works better than the steam wand on the espresso machine). I make two lattes a day most every day, one for me, one for the wife. ~$1k, call it. I figure it all paid back in less than a year.

I always hear people call them “FourBucks.” They’ll might have to have a new nickname after the increase.

Isnt this company one of the ones that hiked their own wages for virtue-signalling purposes?

Funny how far left wing supporting companies don’t care if their products are “affordable”

I like their “Sumatra Bold” unground bean, and their 8 oz. bottled mocha that becomes a two-fer with milk.

Never been to a Starbucks because I’ve never gotten good recommendations. Lots of folks say the coffee tastes like it has been burnt. I can do that at home for free :)

Seems like they charge prices that are way too high for what you get.

Now, I have another reason not to show up.

I would boycott them, but that would require that I was spendthrift enough to shop there in the first place.

I don’t drink cold coffee beverages, nor do I drink ice, or hot tea. The few times I had hot Starbucks coffee, it tasted
burnt. I brew my own coffee at home, from beans I grind fresh each day. If I’m traveling anywhere and want a cup of coffee, I’ll go to Dunkin’ Donuts, and if there isn’t one of those around, I’ll stop at a McDonald’s.

There’s a new Starbucks in town, right across the street from Atlanta Bread. The ATL Bread store has been there forever. Be interesting to see what a little competition does.

>>Big deal, its like Apple raising its prices slightly. The Fanbois wont care anyways.<<

I have NEVER understood why people like charbucks. It started out by serving French Roast, which most people dislike but became O So Chic.

The rest is history: The Yuppies congratulated themselves on paying $3 for a .50 cup of coffee and the brand grew. That nonsense is still in place today when they have free coffee at some of my clients and these idjits still bring in charbucks.

The few places that didn’t have free coffee, I got a $10 coffee maker and a $5 timer to give me coffee in the AM at about a nickel a cup, even when I buy the good stuff.

The first thing financial advisers say to people who want to retire early or get out of debt: dump the charbucks.

I guess their increased min-wages is not working out so well for them.

They hiked their own wages as a means of putting their competitors out of business.

Starbucks is a massive operation. They could absorb the wage hit by temporarily sacrificing some profits, plus playing games with workers hours (article on them doing this just yesterday) plus a “minimal” price hike (seen here)

Things that smaller competitors, without Starbucks economies of scale can’t easily use to absorb.
