... Comey even conceded that former Secretary Clinton was extremely careless and strongly suggested that her recklessness very likely led to communications (her own and those she corresponded with) being intercepted by foreign intelligence services. Yet, Director Comey recommended against prosecution of the law violations he clearly found on the ground that there was no intent to harm the United States.
In essence, in order to give Mrs. Clinton a pass, the FBI rewrote the statute, inserting an intent element that Congress did not require. The added intent element, moreover, makes no sense: The point of having a statute that criminalizes gross negligence is to underscore that government officials have a special obligation to safeguard national defense secrets; when they fail to carry out that obligation due to gross negligence, they are guilty of serious wrongdoing. The lack of intent to harm our country is irrelevant. People never intend the bad things that happen due to gross negligence....
....
...It seems to me that this is what the FBI has done today. It has told the public that because Mrs. Clinton did not have intent to harm the United States we should not prosecute her on a felony that does not require proof of intent to harm the United States. Meanwhile, although there may have been profound harm to national security caused by her grossly negligent mishandling of classified information, weve decided she shouldnt be prosecuted for grossly negligent mishandling of classified information.

Comey says: “What’s good enough for Chief Justice Roberts is good enough for me!”
Comey’s just another white guy cleaning up a black boy’s mess.
What does Comey think is the difference between “careless” and “negligent”?
I think this travesty needs to be a rallying cry against this crooked establishment. Everybody knows Hillary is a crook, and the system that protects her is no different than The Joker in “The Dark Knight”.
That was the entire object lesson of what he did.
It was Comey's job to take the pressure off of Lynch since after having her meeting with Bill Clinton revealed she was put in a precarious position.
Comey was the "go to" guy to fall on his sword so that Lynch was no longer on the hook.
The American justice system took a "direct hit" orchestrated by the governing elite
He did indeed. And yet it was the most helpful screw America ever got. Because he did finish the actual report, and it did provide the evidence necessary to indict, if not also convict, and then and ONLY then did he declare it inadequate. Even then, though, he declared the requirements for indictment that clearly included what Hillary actually did, before he bizarrely declared them unfulfilled.
I guess that what I'm saying here is that this whole thing is very odd - Comey did literally everything he could to declare that he was wrong in his final conclusion, while simultaneously providing everything everyone needs to convict Hillary.
It's very, very strange - he could have lied about the findings - but he didn't. He could have trumped up some legitimate sounding justification - but he didn't. He could have cited different statutes - but he didn't. He's all but screaming "reject my conclusion!"
As one result, though, media sources and Trump can legitimately call Hillary a criminal now, because Comey did in fact say she fulfilled the criminal statute requirements. So the Clintons can't sue to stop that, since the FBI Director's own testimony stands against her objections.
I’ve heard of the reasonable person standard in criminal law, but Comey makes a new judicial standard: the “reasonable prosecutor” standard. People in government ARE the standard, you peon!
It’s the same as Roberts saying, Yes, ObungaCare is unconstitutional, but citizens and the rule of law don’t are pieces of crap in my book; so I’ll make a new standard out of whole cloth.
There is more than one "key" statute involved. Comey picked one that is more difficult to prove.
Hillary almost certainly violated 18 USC 1924, but you don't hear much about that.

I think Comey did everything he could in light of the threats he labored under. The reasonable prosecutor standard here means, to me (and I am sure I am not alone) that this prosecutor thought it was reasonable to stop short of conviction and save the life of himself and his family. Hillary Clinton does not come out of this smelling like a rose. At the very least this whole examination has shed harsh light on her judgment and executive abilities. Her supporters are running out of reasons to defend her.
Comey: just another step`nfetchit Obama LEO who thinks he can make law, even if cannot enforce it; I wonder which Obama DOJustus law-hack told him what to say this morning.
Where the government fears the People there is freedom ...
Or both.
Comey disgraced himself, the FBI, and his country.
I wonder what Clinton’s security clearance is now...

Same place all the “principled conservatives” went after Ted Cruz revealed his true self.
They've discovered that they were "suckers".
