Has Donald J. Trump become a born-again Christian?
That is the suggestion of James C. Dobson, one of Americas leading evangelicals, who said Mr. Trump had recently come to accept a relationship with Christ and was now a baby Christian.
Dr. Dobson, the founder of Focus on the Family and one of the countrys most prominent social conservatives, gave his account at a meeting Mr. Trump had in New York on Tuesday with hundreds of Christian conservatives.
In an interview recorded at the event by a Pennsylvania pastor, the Rev. Michael Anthony, Dr. Dobson said he knew the person who had led Mr. Trump to Christ, though he did not name him.
I dont know when it was, but it has not been long, Dr. Dobson said. I believe he really made a commitment, but hes a baby Christian.
Mr. Anthony posted the interview to his blog on Friday. Dr. Dobson could not be reached on Saturday, and Hope Hicks, the Trump campaign spokeswoman, did not respond Saturday to a request for details.
...
In his interview, Dr. Dobson conceded that Mr. Trump did not exactly fit the typical mold of an evangelical.
He used the word hell four or five times, he said. He doesnt know our language. He added that Mr. Trump refers a lot to religion and not much to faith and belief.
For evangelicals, the heart of Christianity is a faith-based dependence on God. They often contrast this with what they characterize as merely religion, which they view as more rules and rituals-based.

I said, if I voted for Romney; I'd be giving approval for a man in the highest ranking position of our Country; the necessary means to spout his deceiving religion freely - with a fake aura of respectability.
Sorry folks; not on MY watch!
Obama did!
He’s publically called for the defense of Christians being killed and persecuted in the middle East in a way that no other media or politician has. He does frequent though not necessarily overly publicized acts of kindness(such has helping that poor vet stuck in a Mexican jail or sending planes to help sick kids to hospitals). Old gruff, old womanizing Trump yet out of the blue he gets some word of someone needing help and he just does it. Dogs will get better treatment wandering into the white house grounds from Trump than what other occupants would do.
God squares chaotic amoebae, not just circles.
Hell - I'd take a moral atheist who believed in the Constitution....
Yes it is refreshing. They stated the distinction in simplistic terms but it was fairly well done.
I’m with you on this rebb.
Must be an accident, they got that part right. Belief in GOD and JESUS, is not a religion of rules, except that which GOD and JESUS laid down. Anything else is church dogma. Didn’t Paul and Peter go over that part enough that even a simple ‘baby’ Christian can understand it? The simple do not be unevenly yoked statement seems to go over the heads of most.
Do ‘they’ make balls with holly and roll them, or make rings with holly and roll them? BTW, didn’t R Reagan profess to being a Christian? Do you even know what is required to be a Christian?
“I count Dobson, Graham, Falwell, Jeffress , etc as some of the finest, most Godly of men.”
Franklin Graham definitely. The others, not so much. Don’t know enough about Jeffress or Falwell Jr. Dobson, on the other hand, would not make my list. I know, Focus on the Family and all that, but he has said things and taken positions in the past that I couldn’t abide. I can’t remember what they were now. No need to dwell on them once I crossed him off my list.
Thank you for your excellent post. That Trump was seen at David Jeremiah’s church is so so encouraging to hear. Thank you and your family for praying for Trump’s salvation and with you, I am believing that God has heard our prayers and is drawing Trump to Himself. He has certainly surrounded him with godly men who no doubt continuously pray for him. I love that the Lord is accomplishing His will on earth in His own way, through a man who does not fit our pious mold. This “small” tidbit from Dr. Dobson is the best news I have heard so far in this election. WOW Lord, and Amen and Amen!
>>>>”God squares chaotic amoebae, not just circles.”
No, a square circle, like a “married bachelor” is intrinsic nonsense, meaningless, having nothing to do with limits on God’s power.
“Meaningless combinations of words do not suddenly acquire meaning simply because we prefix to them two other words, ‘God can.’”
I don’t see anything wrong or awkward with this picture.
I think your skepticism is coming from your image of Trump over the years, not being able to see him in other way. But you need to understand, just because someone has become a believer, doesn’t mean the evidence of that change is immediately recognized.
The Scriptures refer to new believers as “babes in Christ,” and are urged to “desire the sincere milk of the Word” so they may grow by it. The apostle Paul said mature Christians are those who eat the meat of the Word and are consistent in their doctrine and testimony.
If Mr. Trump has recently received Christ as Savior, you can’t expect him to suddenly “act evangelical” in every area of his life. The Holy Spirit has to be allowed to work in him as he yields and learns about his new faith. There is a growing process for every Christian, and many of them are still out of the will of God in areas of their life.
Just because you can’t see Donald Trump as an evangelical Christian, doesn’t mean he couldn’t be one. Remember, the believers in the book of Acts, could never have imagined that a man named, Saul, who persecuted them, hauled them to prison, and consented to their deaths, would become the greatest evangelist for Jesus Christ the world has ever known.
Thank you, Georgiegirl, it’s always such a blessing to hear from those who understand the ways of God.
I’m very excited about all of this, because of the fact that Mr. Trump humbled themselves to pray with the believer, (whoever he or she may be) is something that the Lord can honor and show him more grace, if he didn’t really get saved this time.
I love watching God work in the lives of people as we intercede and pray for them. After all, that’s what we believers are here for, to help people come to Christ.
Can’t remember which thread I saw this link, but I am listening to it right now. I started listening with a grain of salt (propehetic word alert) but as I’m hearing more and more of it, can’t say I disagree with the brunt of it. Would love your input Southnsoul.

So, evangelicals don't believe in hell?
Of course God’s miracles are nonsense to you.
