Bursting the false narrative -- Economic growth suffers from overspending, not undertaxation
The Washington Times ^ | Monday, June 13, 2016 | Richard W. Rahn

At the end of this past week, The Washington Post ran a long story on the Center for Freedom and Prosperity (CFP), an organization that I have long supported. It appeared that the original goal was to do a hit piece on CFP because it had been a leader in the fight for global tax competition and smaller government.

The irony was that the authors of the story quoted a number of people from around the world... ...who support bigger government and higher taxes, to the effect that those at the CFP had been highly successful in blocking a number of their attempts to reduce tax competition and impose higher taxes... ...No matter how much government spends, it is never enough.

The inconvenient truth is that there is an optimum size of government... ...The United States has suffered wage stagnation under the Obama administration, even with a huge growth in government spending and regulation.

At the moment, all of the world’s major developed economies are growing less than 2 percent, which is insufficient to produce a steady rise in the standard of living for most people. The economic sickness is caused by too much rather than too little government. The size of government relative to GDP in most countries has been growing for decades. Among OECD countries (the club of rich, developed countries), it is now approaching an average of almost 50 percent. The United States is at 42 percent, still well above the optimum....

...many have forgotten President Reagan’s famous line, “The government is not the solution, it is the problem.” This was never truer than today. Governments around the world are crushing economic growth and opportunity, and destroying basic liberties. This will not change until knowledgeable people bust the false narrative that more government will make things better.

Government overspending is the same as increased taxation since government can only spend money it takes from the people through taxation (taken now), borrowing (taken later), or by printing new money (inflating or debasing the money, which is a hidden tax)

To a libtard the solution to gummint too big is to just have a King. A leftist fascist King. It is what they have been begging for. A Queen would do just as nicely and withh Hill and Bill they have found their wet dream.

To their horror it seems day by day the chances they will actually get a King Trump has got their knickers in a serious wad. Well, one just needs to be more careful about what you pray for. Like the joke “ I thought you sai you wanted a 12 inch pianist.”.

This is truly turning into a fascinating year.

...government can only spend money it takes from the people...

It never ceases to amaze me how few understand this.   Part of the problem is the straw-man anarchist that the left slaps on the right.  You and I understand that we must have a rule of law and that our courts must not be driven by 'profit'.  We've always understood it.  Yet the crazy left still accuses us of calling for "unfettered capitalism".

No, you really can’t. We are being swept forward by time into a drama that makes Gone With the Wind like a 3 minute cartoon. If one retreats into God’s Grace to step back for some small bit of perspective it is breathtaking. A cast of Billions. Clash of civilizations. Duplicity and insincerity to dwarf that found in Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar. Suspense such as never been seen in the best Agatha Christie. “Can the Americans survive the final months of a regime of treason and treachery?”

No, you literally can not make this Sh!t up.
