Saw them in South Jersey around 1974. We were right up against the stage. One band member took a sax solo and after he was done he put a cigarette in his mouth and asked us for a lite.

Fairport Covention never had or used a sax player . Either you are confusing FC with another band , or it was not a sax player but Swarbrick the fiddle player who was a very heavy smoker .
