It will be interesting to see if he sets a tone in the Philippines opposite of what a lot of people were expecting.
He could have said he was sorry for HOW he said it, but not for what he meant, if indeed it was a deep sarcasm meant to highlight how terrible it was. But pride goes before destruction. He might not last.
Very corrupt country on a scale we don’t understand. Killing politicians even in local elections is common. Drugs rampant. People want this guy to clean it up.

Might be good if some people read the article, it speaks only of the most admirable plans.
But yes this guy says he will kill rapists and drug dealers. In a country with no death penalty.

We need this country as an ally. When he talks about killing criminals, you need to understand politicians, businesses and crooks kill people there all the time. They never get caught or they get let out easy. In that situation somebody has to start killing the killers.
Duterte is the president of a crime infested nation that normal ( whatever THAT is ), legal and legislative actions won't and can't control let alone stop

This could be a cautionary tale put in place before Trump, so that we can see what the worst ways of running off the road of civilization are, before we undertake them ourselves.
Places like Israel, when under deep threat, generally don’t act like this, but they will conscript everyone possible into their armies so that the place is very heavily guarded. An approach like this would be very understandable. To try to do it “lite” with vigilante squads is just asking for a disaster.
Well then, we can safely ignore it. Because God frustrates the plans of the nations.
