Lifelong Republican Changes Party to Vote for Bernie Sanders Who 'Won't Send Her Kids to War'

A lifelong Republican from Los Banos changed her party affiliation to support a candidate who is perhaps the polar opposite of her usual choice: Bernie Sanders.

Karina Karancho told her mother's story Wednesday morning at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds in San Jose, ahead of Sanders' 1 p.m. rally and with California's June 7 primary less than a month away.

"My mom has six kids in the military," Karancho said, "and she always felt the Republicans were her choice. But her mom changed political affiliations this year so she could vote for the most liberal and progressive of leaders.

"She doesn’t trust Trump with her kids," Karancho said of her mother's dislike for the Republican front-runner. "Bernie Sanders won’t send her kids to war."

Karancho was one of several Sanders supporters awaiting the Vermont senator's second trip to the Bay Area in less than two weeks. She held a sign that read, "Enough is enough. The status quo isn’t working."

Sanders first visited the Bay Area on May 10, when he stopped by campaign headquarters in Oakland.

Later Wednesday, Sanders will head to Vallejo for his second "A Future to Believe In" rally was slated to begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Vallejo Waterfront Park, where 18,000 people are expected to attend It’s obvious why a political candidate would head to the wealthy Silicon Valley to campaign. NBC Bay Area political analyst Larry Gerston noted that Sanders was likely visiting Vallejo, about an hour north of San Jose, as well, because he wants to find not just money, but votes.

Gerston described Vallejo’s constituency as "blue-collar workers... disaffected from the mainstream Democratic party that he thinks he can capture. But resident Peter Brooks disputed that notion, saying Sanders must approve of Vallejo’s can-do attitude in the face of adversity.

"Vallejo pulled itself out of bankruptcy," Brooks said Tuesday night. "Vallejo is the hottest real-estate market; the people in Vallejo care about each other."

More of these stories coming. Serial callers to talk shows.

If Trump is elected, I’m concerned about the quadrupling of the homeless population by February 2017.

People vote in their own self interest. Eventually she’ll find that the socialists / communists will deny you your own self-interest “for the good of the whole” or “for the community” or “for the children” or “for the environment” or...or...or..

The common thread is they decide what’s best for you instead of you doing it.

“Bernie Sanders won’t send her kids to war.”

Your kids will wish they lived in Venezuela when Bernie is done.

"Bernie Sanders won’t send her kids to war."

So who is Bernie going to send if someone starts a war with us? Indeed, I'd say we're already at war. All you're saying is that your kids aren't willing to fight for others freedoms. Sure am glad my family didn't feel that way or I might be speaking German or Japanese right now.

so, why is her mom not telling her own story?

( I only quickly read above - so maybe I missed it)

Sanders may not have them go to war but he would endanger them in far greater ways with his freebies and such - many people blind to war of enablement vs God’s best.

Bernie may or may not keep her precious rug rat out of war. His policies sound almost identical to obama’s — who has created at least a half- dozen wars to advance the Islamonazi world conquest movement. War is best avoided through strength, not weakness like current D leftism creates. Just saying she looks like she’s made a big booboo - and her boy might wind up in deep doodoo as a result

"...Karina Karancho a woman with six siblings in the military and a lifelong Republican..."

The stink of her ridiculous utter BS is overwhelming!
dfwgator and I were thinking the same thing at the same time.

Odd way of referring to her siblings or half-siblings: "her kids". I smell BS.

She doesn’t want her kids fighting to protect the USA. She’d prefer they fight for socialism. Gee, thanks, Mom!

The person she should not trust is Hillary and Bernie also.
Trump is the only one who has made the policy statements to stay of wars that don’t concern us.

If Bernie wins, throws open the borders, guts the military and welcomes Islam, they won’t have to go to war, death will come to them here.

Well gee, I was a lifelong Democrat and Bernie supporter. I recently decided to switch to Republican because I don't want to see war, famine and chaos on our homeland... which is what's likely to happen if we have liberals in charge for much longer.

Now, do I get to go on TV all over the place to tell my compelling story? No... I didn't think so.

That’s funny, because It seems that Democratic Presidents have sent more people to WAR than Republican Presidents have.
