The casino magnate Sheldon G. Adelson told Donald J. Trump in a private meeting last week that he was willing to contribute more to help elect him than he has to any previous campaign, a sum that could exceed $100 million, according to two Republicans with direct knowledge of Mr. Adelsons commitment.
As significant, Mr. Adelson, a billionaire based in Las Vegas, has decided that he will significantly scale back his giving to congressional Republicans and direct most of his contributions to groups dedicated to Mr. Trumps campaign. The two Republicans familiar with Mr. Adelsons plans spoke anonymously because they were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly.
Mr. Adelsons pledge to Mr. Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, comes at an opportune time. Mr. Trump has relied on a mix of his own wealth and small-dollar contributions to finance his primary effort and lacks the sort of major donor network needed to sustain him in the general election. Mr. Trump has said that he may need $1 billion for the campaign but has only recently begun scheduling fund-raisers and hiring finance staff members. Many of the Republican Partys wealthiest contributors, including the billionaire brothers Charles G. and David H. Koch, have indicated they are unlikely to give to his candidacy.

100 million?????? We shall see. Even 50 million is a tremendous donation from one person to one campaign.
How much will the gays give Hillary this time around? 50 million? This is what all this tyranny bathroom crap is about. Dems getting gay political money
It’s always fun to watch the Oligarchs pick our leaders.
This can only hurt Trump.
Very appreciative thanks and blessings to Mr. Adelson!!!!
This news just ruined Mitt Romney’s weekend.
How is #NeverTrump supposed to work with millions being donated just like that? Adelson never gave Mitt money like that.
The article says he will donate the money to superpacs, not to the campaign.
The great mass of people will hear this and will suddenly begin to doubt Trump commitment to building the wall.
if Adelson really wanted to help Trump he would work behind the scenes and never let out a single peep about supporting him.
just doesn’t make sense.
this isn’t shrewd.
I’m ready to donate.
I don’t expect Trump to shoulder this by himself.
He already spent $50 million of his own money, and took out Low Energy Jeb, Li’l Marco, Lyin’ Ted, Vicente Fox and the Pope; he already has Crooked Hillary, Raping Bill and Goofyhontas on the ropes.
Thank you, Mr. Trump!
Mr. T has said he IS raising money for house and senate seats, NOT necessarily for his OWN campaign!!!! If he can raise this kind of money for the party he WILL be a superstar to them!!!
Adelson strongly backs the wall in Israel.
I do, too.
Adelson opposes the US wall.
Adelson and a u.s. border wall don’t go together.
Once you take money like this, the rest of America will pay the price.
Where did it say that
On the contrary best to leave it out in the open. What trump doesn’t need is for liberal journalists to announce sensational discoveries.
It's not like Donald Trump, receiving millions from a pro amnesty billionaire, will be "beholden" to him.
“Adelson opposes the US wall.”
Do you have any evidence to back that up?
I sure as hell couldn’t find it.
Did you read the article? The point is he is giving the money to Trump instead of individual Congressional candidates. If Trump controls the money he controls Congress. This is the end of the never Trump nonsense. Understand?
“and direct most of his contributions to groups dedicated to Mr. Trumps campaign.”
I single person can’t donate $100 million to a campaign.
These “groups” will not be controlled by Trump. Adelson can do whatever he wants with his money.
My guess is that this is intended to influence Trump to ban internet gambling.
This is about Iran.
