Things are bad all over, folks.

You know that when all the Hallmark stores in your area are going out of business.

I used to go out of my way to get a nice birthday card from Hallmark. That fell to the wayside in 2008. Looking back, I wonder how an expensive greeting card store selling nothing else other than even more expensive collectibles and assorted doo-dads ever was all that successful. But, they were, for decades. Times have changed so much, and not for the better.

Ha, ha, since the beginning of the year we have lost Sports Authority, Hallmark, the local supermarket, Barnes & Noble, Sears, Kmart, the kitchen supply store, and more restaurants than I can count.

If Costco goes under, though, then it will really start becoming a nightmare.

I went to Hallmark and found the perfect retirement card for an old teacher of mine - it was 7 dollars I think! Talk about sticker shock.
I got a good tip to shop for cards at the Dollar Store - they are plainer, of course, but perfectly functional for most occasions.

I bought all my mother’s day and recent birthday cards at the dollar store and saved a bunch on overpriced paper.
