This was actually a diplomatic answer.
Bottom Line: Cruz burned his bridges. He has three career possibilities to provide for his family in the style to which they have become accustomed:
  1. Return to practicing law
  2. Start a talk radio show
  3. Sell religion like his father

Don't do it Donald!

Thankfully, that was a sort of polite reply and I doubt he's even thinking about putting Teddy on any short list for ANY position.

Not exactly a ringing endorsement.

It’s like being at the bar at 1:45 AM. You might think about that some of the less than stellar options left that are giving you the eye, but then your senses take hold. Better to wait it out and start anew the next day.

Good answer by Trump.

I personally hope Cruz will not get onto the Supreme Court, for many reasons.

I also don’t think Cruz would want it either. This came about because some people though this would be a valuable consolation prize for him.

I think the country — and Cruz — will be better off without him on the SCOTUS.

I would say no too but Trump is no fool. He has to leave the SCOTUS dangling carrot out there to keep Cruz supporters hopeful.

I already have.

No fricken way!

The guy can’t get First Amendment rights. He hasn’t a clue about states rights. He doesn’t grasp Article IV, Section 4.

He thought Roberts was a great prospect.

What more do we need to know?

Ted Cruz is the reason we are stuck with Obamacare. He hand picked his pal Roberts acting as solicitor general under Bush.....and he still claims to be an ‘outsider’...

How anyone can’t see through Ted’s preachy, condescending self righteous speech is beyond me!

A Justice Cruz would be for sale. He would join a long, long line of Republican appointees who gained a Strange New Respect by Growing in Office.

Cruz has been an Epic disappointment in every way, and I was a Cruz hopeful before this campaign started. Now I don’t think he is even qualified to be in his current position.

I can remember when threads like this used to be interesting. I think the Cruz supporters who would provide the dissenting position are keeping their heads down for awhile or have left the board. I hope this freeze on alternate opinions doesn’t last and discussions start to happen again. It hurts to lose an election. For some Cruz supporters, this is the fourth or fifth straight election their candidate did not get picked in the primary.

It’s tough. It’s even tougher when there is no attempt from the other side to win you over to their candidate. The Trump supporters on this board tend to circle the wagons and fire indiscriminately on those who disagree with their choice for the nomination. Yes, there is some from the other side as well. Of course. They are losing. They don’t feel great about it. Don’t you Trump supporters feel good enough about winning to be somewhat magnanimous?

I stopped supporting Cruz after the Iowa election. I never could support Trump to date, but I will vote for him in the general election.

Trump supporters. Be good winners (some have and thank you for that). You need Cruz supporters votes (and those of us who loathe pulling the lever for either) in the general to defeat our real enemy, Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Since we are constantly being reminded that this is a year of "firsts," I cannot support choosing Cruz for SC seat.

I don't think the nation is ready for the "first live TV booger eater" sitting on the bench. I suspect we will have gotten more used to this and be ready in 2032.

Anyone who, at this point, still wants to see Cruz in politics at all has a hole in their head where their brains fell out.

NOT during President Trump's FIRST TERM.

Perhaps during his SECOND TERM, depending on the 4-year actions and behavior of Senator Cruz.

IT was a STUPID/MEANT TO INCITE question to pose to Mr. Trump, but he answered it quite excellently.

Cruz has repeatedly shown he is not what he appears and has no discernment. He is a fringe cultist who has no business being on SCOTUS.

Like a fellow Freeper pointed out yesterday, the Cruzes are white Obamas.

A year ago I woulda thought ‘great idea’. Teds just too unbalanced now to be given a lifetime appointment. I just wouldn’t trust him and am not sure who the real Ted is at this point.
