Captain Kristen Griest will become America's first ever female Army infantry officer as she graduates from training today.

She has completed the Maneuver Captains Career Course at Fort Benning, Georgia, passing a two-month leadership course necessary for holding a command position.

Captain Griest has already completed Ranger and Airborne School and could take charge of her infantry unit of about 150 soldiers in Spring next year.

Hmmm - tough one, who would you like to lead you into combat? Captain Kristen Griest or Captain Dick Winters, 506th, 101st Airborne? Wow, that would be such a hard choice /sarc

No she hasn't. They just made her go through a mockery of it and declared her "passed."

It is an utter load of HorseSh*t, and everyone involved needs to have their careers terminated when the next President steps in and puts a stop to this nonsense.

I hope she’s at least as tough as that brave reporter... what’s her name? Oh right... Michelle Fields. One tough cookie.

Yesterday I saw a city bus that was entirely covered in a big ad from the Army saying that all jobs are now open to women. I have misgivings about whether this is a good idea, but it might allow them to up the quality of the male volunteers.

"...Captain Griest has already completed Ranger and Airborne School..."

Not likely.

In fact, most likely absolutely untrue.

How many retries did she get?

How many time outs?

How many "counseling sessions" did she get?

Was she treated the same as every other candidate? No, you say?

Then she did never "completed Ranger and Airborne School".

I wouldn't count on Trump or Clinton to stop the nonsense. Hope I'm wrong about Trump. The Transgender bathroom comments made by Trump do NOT inspire confidence with regards to nonsense.

This is a no-lose for our enemies. If she's an incompetent leader, it makes their job easier. If she's so incompetent she gets her troops killed, it makes their job easier. If she's so incompetent and gets so many of her troops killed that they refuse to follow her, the resulting morale drain makes their job easier. If she's actually competent, she still won't be able to do the things her male troopies do, so ... you guessed it ... it makes their job easier.

The one thing it does NOT do is make our Army stronger, all the PC bilge notwithstanding.

Commanders are responsible for the lives of their men.

The mere act of accepting command of a combat infantry unit demonstrates that she does not value their lives.

This is a selfish act for her own personal glory. And it will cost good men their lives.

What would be amazing is if her second relieves her immediately, stating she’s not fit to meet the responsibilities of her command.

Because she isn’t.

I’ve heard from someone who would know, that the Ranger’s rank and file aren’t thrilled with Ms. Guest.

Well, since 2011 when the ban on gays to serve openly in the military was lifted the phrase “never leave your buddy’s behind,” now apparently takes on a whole new meaning...whatever, I’m sure, hell I’m positive that this makes America a more fierce and feared fighting force or they wouldn’t have done it, probably saves tax payers money too!

It’s entirely likely that this woman is an excellent soldier. The advantages she and other women will have to be given for them to prosper in enlisted and officer ranks are so totally unrealistic that, at least the Army I knew, will not be able to consistently fulfill its mission. That is a really big deal.

I heard back when some women made it through Ranger school that one of the unspoken truths was that the women had been allowed to concentrate on personal training for months with no other duties before their class whereas the men all kept doing their regular jobs right up to the day they began. Is she one of those women?
