Golden State Warriors tie the NBA record for wins in a season

The Golden State Warriors have equaled the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls’ record for wins in a season, and they’ve still got a little room to move.

The defending champs topped San Antonio on Sunday night by a 92-86 score, in San Antonio’s building, running its record to 72-9. With a win over a depleted Memphis squad on Wednesday night Golden State will finish its season at 73-9, setting an NBA record for wins in a season.

Sunday’s conquest fittingly came against San Antonio, the team that has played the Warriors the best this season, one that features a coach in Gregg Popovich that twice employed Warriors coach Steve Kerr as his reserve hybrid guard. Kerr also played the same role on the 1995-96 Bulls.

They did it beating the Spurs in San Antonio, something that no one has done all season.

They’re still not better than the Bulls. The Bulls were just loaded with talent that year and had iconic players. They’re a lot like the ‘85 Bears.

My Lowly Rockets beat them Christmas Day 2015 in their House after we fired our coach. The Spurs cheat.

The Bulls were a dynasty. The Bears, not so much. But that ‘85 team was pretty good for that season.

The repeat three peat Bulls were an amazing team, over many years. I am a Bull's fan. That said, Steph Curry and this Golden State team are also amazing, and deserving of breaking this record. Curry and Jordan are very different players, but Curry is one of the first players that has really excited me since Jordan retired.

Jordan may be the best player ever, but the Warriors are the best team. They play unselfish team ball, and their chemistry is off the charts. Not only that, but they are Christians of good character.

Yeah, the game is better now. 3 pointers open up the floor, the superstars are mostly unselfish, and the refs aren’t corrupt anymore.

It was a great game...Curry is unreal. They’ll break the record Wednesday..but they better win the title..or it’s meaningless..

Can’t wait for the Spurs to meet the Warriors in the Conference Finals, it will be a classic.

I always say they were the best team ever to win just one superbowl.

I’ll be there in spirit. Loved how Kerr managed Curry’s play time tonight and how they sort of coasted and ten “boom” Steph comes back in and they explode!

First team in NBA history to:
-win 34 road games
-not lose back to back games in a season
-not lose to the same team more than once in a season
-and in a few days they will be the first to have single digits in losses.

It will be a tall order to beat GSWarriors in a 7 game series.

Yeah...sure they do. That's loser talk for your team sucks.

Congratulations to the Warriors. They deserve to go all the way this year.

I went digging through the Warriors keyword list and found this thread. What you wrote exemplifies what I love about the Dubs. Do you think those no-look passes work with a selfish team with no connection?

Their commitment to faith and the resulting good character is the best thing about this team... and being so blazing hot here in the Bay Area, I hope that invites so many people in this area, which is so thirsty for God’s grace, to seek Him.
