Are any Freepers attending their county conventions in an attempt to go to Cleveland as a national delegate?
Cleveland even had a mayor whose hair caught on fire!
NO, gonna use the money to enhance the alarm system and buy some extra ammunition instead...........
Went to a meeting the other night billed as a Go Trump in Delaware event. Turned out it was a monthly GOP meeting, held in a building that the former state President couldn’t find.
The “purpose” of the meeting was to select delegates to the state convention. We had 5 minutes to approve a slate of delegates already chosen AND to get names of alternates.
I asked about the national delegates and was told they had been already chosen and they were bound only on the first ballot. I know some of the national delegates and if they can get around that, they will. And it won’t be Trump, Cruz or Kasich that they’ll select.
What and actually leave the keyboard?! I’d miss the live thread!
Some friends were discussing it today...the RNC probably wont let us int...
Our county convention is Saturday. My husband and I plan on going to the state convention but have no desire to go to Cleveland.
“I know some of the national delegates and if they can get around that, they will. And it wont be Trump, Cruz or Kasich that theyll select.”
Unbelievable.
There are rules:
(a) Binding and Allocation.
(1) Any statewide presidential preference vote that permits a choice among candidates for the Republican
nomination for President of the United States in a primary, caucuses, or a state convention must be used to allocate and bind the
states delegation to the national convention in either a proportional or winner-take-all manner, except for delegates and alternate
delegates who appear on a ballot in a statewide election and are elected directly by primary voters.
(2) The Secretary of the Convention shall faithfully announce and record each delegates vote in accordance
with the delegates obligation under these rules, state law or state party rule. If any delegate bound by these rules, state party rule
or state law to vote for a presidential candidate at the national convention demonstrates support under Rule 40 for any person
other than the candidate to whom he or she is bound, such support shall not be recognized. Except as provided for by state law or
state party rule, no presidential candidate shall have the power to remove a delegate.
I am in NC and would be interested in going in a group if you really plan on charter.
Fellow Michigander here!
80% sure yes
I live in Ohio, so would be foolish not come down and watch the festivities.
Tell me more about Trump inciting riots...haven’t heard that
Yes.
I have a very good chance of being a national convention delegate.
For practical purposes, it’s likely too late to get involved now, but the next local GOP organizational meetings in off-years are the perfect place to start for 2020.
Even should your candidate win the presidency, it is still necessary to change the GOP starting at the very lowest levels.
I have considered running for national delegate.
I have been invited to attend, as a delegate from Hawaii for Trump, but I have to work and I cannot afford the expensive trip anyway
Cruz and Trump are both operating under an illusion of fairness. They don’t really know the gop-e.
I signed up, but you have to be chosen by the state elites, so I doubt I make it. I’m afraid they are going to try and steal the election. North Carolina here.
Me too for that reason. Is his website up now?
I live in one of the suburbs, and I’ll be too busy manning the barricade between us and downtown.
