Trump and Cruz Delegates in Tennessee To Form Grassroots Alliance []
Breitbart ^ | 18 Mar 2016 | Michael Patrick Leahy

NASHVILLE, Tennessee— Many of the 49 delegates in Tennessee who are pledged to either Donald Trump or Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)will reportedly meet this month to seal a grassroots alliance in which they pledge their votes during any contested convention only to Trump or Cruz.

“My concern is that whether you are a Cruz delegate or a Trump delegate the establishment wants to nominate somebody like John Kasich who has no mathematical chance or moral authority to become the nominee because he has received so few votes in the primaries,” former State Rep. Joe Carr, an at-large Cruz delegate, tells Breitbart News. He adds:

As a result of this flagrant attempt at hijacking the process, I have contacted several of the Tennessee Trump and Cruz delegates in an effort to band together with the goal of making sure that the duly elected delegates have their voices heard according to current RNC Convention Rules. If the establishment persists in their recklessness attempt to steal the nomination from either Donald Trump or Senator Cruz, the Republican Party may not recover for a generation....

Yup. This is exactly what should happen. Trump and Cruz delegates should be natural allies.

I know the Cruz people like to stand side by side with Trump and pretend they’re in the same position but they’re really not. Cruz is basically in the same position as Kasich. At some point he will be mathematically eliminated too and he’ll have to take it to the convention (It’s clear that’s what his strategy is now). If Cruz has a case then so does Kasich.

That was a foolish statement. You need those Cruz voters(voters that historically stay home if they have been betrayed by the elite) in the general election and you Trump supporters are a huge turn-off that crowd. Republicans have a very predictable base and you either do what you need for those votes or you do not get elected like McCain, Romney, etc...

If Cruz does not have enough delegates to force Trump to work a deal with him as his VP and the establishment force chooses a rino as Trump's VP as they did Reagan you are going to lose a ton of the base...base that does not trust Trump or see him as a rope-a-dope.

Trump is no conservative and the thinking man knows this. when you put a rino on Trump's ticket it is worthless as Romney's ticket was.....Romney who could not get the Christian's to vote for him.

You better hope that those Cruz supporters have a reason to vote Trump not stay home which they have proven over and over they do. At some point it is time to really think about where this is going and what you need in your next step to win and win big.

It would be a brilliant ground game ticket, Trump with the enthusiastic base that will go work for him and Cruz with that proven home school base that all candidates want in their ground game. It would be a landslide ground game with a hugely enthusiastic base.

Trump with a rino is the conservative base being betrayed once again. But hey, go ahead and be condescending to the people you really need to succeed because arrogance is just so much fun and not a huge turn off to the voter base you desperately need to show you are not going to betray because they already fear that from Trump.

“Trump is no conservative and the thinking man knows this. “

Yup, he’s so not a conservative that Cruz copied his illegal immigration plan. Trump’s policies are the most conservative in the field, while Cruz held back much too long (probably due to marching orders from his donors.)

You’re the one being condescending, ironically. Who you posted to only discussed the candidates; you are insulting posters here and voters.

Look, what I said is true. Cruz isn’t in the same position as Trump, he is more likely to have to win in a contested convention, just like Kasich. I know you guys worked hard for him but that is the reality at this point. You say that Trump needs Cruz voters, of course he does but he also needs Jeb voters (not many) and Rubio voters etc. Not everyone can be a VP. Cruz is strong with the evangelicals and that makes up much of his base. Trump is already doing well there, even better than Cruz. He’s not doing AS well with the ultra Conservative and sure Cruz might help with that but I’m not sure that actually helps Trump to get elected. I don’t want Trump to be forced into a Cruz pick, I want him to have the power to make his own decisions, especially as it relates to VP which is why I am hoping he can win outright. Moreover, Cruz is wasted as a VP, I’d rather him in the Senate. I’m not completely against the choice but not because Trump’s hand is forced. If he is to destroy the GOPe, he needs a strong hand and that’s my main complaint with a contested convention.

THIS IS WHAT ALL CRUZ/TRUMP SUPPORTERS SHOULD BE DOING...making alliances with one another AGAINST THE ESTABLISHMENT shenanigans. Instead, there is too much of an intramural war going on with many Trump supporters STUPIDLY thinking that Cruz is GOPe.

Cruz will be proven by the course he chooses. He has an opportunity to be a statesman, or ruthless.

He has a controversial reputation, due solely to his tactical and raging ambition, as seen by some, or his unquestionable awesomeness and virtue as seen by others.

Without an assist from nefarious Establishment forces he is losing to TRUMP now, and will be losing to him going into the Convention.

Simple. Cruz folds, or he fights with the wrong guys against the popular vote in order to upend the primary voters decision.

Rock meets hard place and the Republican Party is returned safely into the hands of the GOPE.

Cruz is the decider.

I agree...it is in his hands.

I sent him my letter...also sent it to my own reps.

Cruz could wait until ha and Trump together have more than enough to seal the deal...and then announce for Trump.

That would be the right thing to do IMHO at this point.

Or, he could take all of the candy/ faux support, etc. the GOPe is offering him, and fracture the GOP.

The GOPe will not allow him to become President either IMHO. They will get their brokered convention...and then throw him to the curb.

So, he has a choice to make and I am praying he makes the choice that unites the country and helps it turn around.

against the popular vote in order to upend the primary voters decision.

If no candidate has a majority (not just a pluraliyt) of delegates, there was no "primary voters' decision."

We got that right. Somehow, that fact went over our heads in civics and government classes.

We are awake now. The so called “popular” vote really never mattered at the National Convention level, unless the donor class and their Established office holders agreed.

The establishment’s brokered convention strategy depends on the state delegates abandoning their candidates and blindly following the will of the establishment.

I suspect it will look more like herding cats.

If it does turn into chaos, expect Ron Paul’s name to be placed into nomination.
