question is will Cruz voters vote for TRump without the VP slot. Thats 40% of the base.

Trump and his followers have done a masterful job of alienating and insulting us Cruz supporters, i.e., the social and constitutional conservative base of the party. At this point there would be, at best, serious lesser-of-two-evils nose-holding, if that, on November 8, along with a fair amount of #NeverTrump staying at home. There would be no enthusiasm whatsoever for Trump. So Trump and his followers have accomplished all that, that I can tell you. Believe me.

Honestly I have been civil to Cruz supporters. I also have said I would vote for him if he won the nomination. Cruz does lie and show his politician side a little too often when it comes to Trump. But outside of that I generally like Cruz. I think he would make a great US Supreme Court Justice.

The hardcore Cruzers alienated themselves. That’s why about 2 months ago Cruz and Trump support were about even, and now Trump is supported by around 80 percent of the forum today.

That’s not true. I know for a fact I haven’t been.

I was a fan of Cruz early on, but the more I got to see of him, the less I liked him. I did say that I didn’t think he was electable because of his personality.

I also said I would vote Cruz if he was the nominee. And I still will, if the GOP doesn’t steal it from Trump.

Charles...

Chuck.

Can you set aside your anger for a moment and try to look at this from the point of view of the other side?

I know what my experience with Cruz supporters was. The instant that I announced that I liked Trump, the insults, the comments about being a cultist, and the amazing condescension was CONSTANT for at least three months before I personally had anything negative to say.

Unless you’re Jesus-levels of patient, it’s really hard to get punched for three months without finally getting fed up and punching back.

From where I’m sitting; I didn’t alienate Cruz supporters. The ‘alienated’ ones hated me from the beginning, and all my rancor has been directed solely at the ones who were horrible to me from the start.

I’m not asking you to like Trump, but you’re treating him and those of us who like him as irredeemably evil.

I keep seeing this recurring theme on FR.....that Trump supporters (or Cruz supporters, depending on the poster) have alienated the other side so much that that poster now may not vote or feel the enthusiasm to help win against Hillary in the fall. I don't disagree that some of the comments on FR these days are over the top...are nasty...are totally unnecessary. They are a reflection of the poster, not the candidate, IMO. So, why does that affect how you will vote in the fall? Do you think you will punish other FReepers with your non-vote? The punishment will be to the country, to yourself, to your children/grandchildren, IMO. I'm trying to understand what I keep reading over and over on FR. Thoughts?

Trump has many social and constitutional conservatives supporting him. That is where the disconnect is.

Robert Jeffries, the pastor of the First Baptist Dallas Church, Jerry Falwell, Jr. and Jeff Sessions all have endorsed Donald Trump. They are all social constitutional conservatives.

Problem with Cruz supporters is they do not acknowledge that Trump is endorsed by the same base as they say they own which is not a true statement.

Actually, from the outset the onslaught against Trump by Cruz and his proxies and supporters has been withering.

Ha!! Listen to yourself. cRuz supporters alienated themselves. Countless posts with the terms Trumpanzees, Trumpeteers, etc.

Also, just an FYI, the enthusiasm level for Trump is there, nationally. Just look at the crowds attending his rallies, watching online, etc. For cRuz? Not even close. He can barely fill a donut shop.
