Could Trump win over some black voters?
Fox News ^ | 3/9/16 | Joseph Weber

Posted on 03/09/2016 12:39:37 PM PST by Sybeck1

Contest after contest has shown Hillary Clinton has the overwhelming support of black voters in the 2016 Democratic primary – but up against Donald Trump, the general election might be a different story.

To be sure, nobody expects Trump or any GOP presidential candidate to win the majority of the black vote, which has been with Democrats since the mid-1930s. Clinton has every reason to believe most black voters sticking with her in the primary against Bernie Sanders would do so in a general election as well.

However, analysts suggest that to consider the black vote a monolith for Clinton in November, should she win the nomination, would be a mistake. The Trump jobs message that has attracted so many disaffected white, blue-collar workers could resonate with black voters equally frustrated by chronic unemployment and unfulfilled promises of change – and Trump’s accelerating march toward the GOP nomination has proven his knack for bringing in voters who might not normally pick a Republican.

“If anything, he knows the economy,” Luz Nelson, a beautician and black South Carolina voter, said days before the front-running Clinton won the state Democratic primary with more than 80 percent of the black vote.

“I’m a New Yorker, too,” Nelson continued. “I know where he’s coming from. Nobody controls Donald Trump.”

If he wants to put any significant portion of the black vote in play, Trump would have to do better than past GOP nominees -- if he indeed is his party’s standard-bearer come November.

I think some folks are convinced that Hispanics have to be in favor of people of their race being able to break our laws.

Do you favor people of your race being able to break our laws?

I don’t favor people of my race being able to break our laws.

This really very simple IMO.

Look at Trump’s success in Nevada with Hispanic voters.

I know you agree, so if any of this didn’t sound like it, it wasn’t directed at you.

Out here, pretty about half of us are of Hispanic ancestry and bilingual English/Spanish-this is tourist country and most of those tourists in the summer are from Mexico-so if someone comes up to me with puede ayudarme-especially if they need directions, I look to see if their vehicle has Mexico plates-if it does, I answer si, senor and help them out-if the car has Texas plates, and they have an attitude they are probably mojado, and I’m going to make some inquiries-if I learn they are a wetback-well, I have La Migra on speed dial...

Thanks for the info, I've only been to Texas once as a child when the parents took us to Six Flags, good times.

Yeah, you can spot them around here, mostly because of their attitude, plus, many usually drive much nicer SUV's than the local folks.

Once again, Faux is being unfair and unbalanced.

Sad to say, but CNN is more trustworthy these days.

Here, most people drive an SUV-usually a 4x4-or a pickup-the Mexican tourists drive Chevy SUV’s that are newer and nicer than locals-the mojados drive pickups and SUVs like we do, but they don’t speak English and have a bad attitude-most of them speak Spanish like people living in the interior of Mexico, too-not the Norteno dialect and accent common on both sides of the border that we are taught at home as kids...

I don’t know anyone of Black or Hispanic ancestry around here who even voted for Obama-and they despise him and his policies, so I doubt they would balk at voting for Trump if he’s nominated-I certainly won’t...

My anecdotal opinion is from a McDonald’s I was at in Atlanta yesterday. CNN was on bashing Trump and one black guy yelled shut up at the TV it was funny. That led to three black men all talking about how Trump tell it like it is and the powers that be don’t like it. Usually the Republican is the uncool one but this time it may be Hillary.

I agree. This is about AMERICAN jobs, and the last time I checked, there are millions of black Americans.

I’m not using any polls as my source.

I’m still telling you what I have observed first hand.

I should have guessed.

What first hand experiences have you had?

I haven't heard a single one of my black co-workers or Hispanic co-workers say anything in support of Trump, so I guess that means he'll do far worse than any other Republican candidate.

In the interest of full disclosure I should point out that neither I nor my coworkers are dumb enough to discuss religion or politics at the office.

But I didn’t write the article...you should correct the authors of such articles...

I say: “Black Community” when addressing African Americans...
