United States Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders reportedly called for the abolition of the CIA during his younger, more radical days. The CIA is "a dangerous institution that has got to go," Sanders told an audience in Vermont in October 1974, according to a Politico report. He described America's foreign intelligence service as a tool of American corporate interests that had repeatedly toppled democratically elected leaders. The agency, he added, was accountable to no one, "except right-wing lunatics who use it to prop up fascist dictatorships."
Sanders, who was aged 33 at the time, was running for the U.S. Senate on the Liberty Union Party ticket – an anti-war group that likened the draft to “a modern form of slavery.â€

A CIA that is devoted above all things to multicultural diversity probably should be shut down.
G-d forbid he should be elected. He’ll start with the CIA, then maybe the FBI and gut the military down to one tank, one plane, one ship (benign of course) - food stamps and EBT cards for all. And that’s only the start. He’ll next put a ten dollar a gallon surcharge on fuel of any sort. Wait, maybe I should quit before he gets more ideas.

Frank Church had pretty much set upon the same task, and he was a sitting member of Congress.
Bernie and FReepers agree on some things, and a corrupt shadow government is one thing we both should hate. The CIA doesn’t always have either the Constitution or the best interests of the American people at heart.

The Federal government has completely controlled government schools (euphemistically called "public" schools) since Carter, why is it hard to believe the products of those schools would vote for Sanders?
