I must admit, I’ve always thought you should get a clean start once you’ve “paid your debt to society”. And lots of conservatives also feel that way. Though, voting is no big deal. As Mark Twain (or Emma Goldman) said, “If voting could make a difference, they wouldn’t let us do it.”

If they had any guts, they’d go after these Kafkaesque sex-offender lists and those places they lock up “sex offenders” AFTER they serve their sentences. But, I fear bringing that up here, so no way a politician will ever do it in public.

I agree. I figure once you’re out of prison, you’ve paid your debt to society. You should have all the rights that come with being a free man.

This is not for people who have completed their sentences. It’s for people on probation or parole. Those people are still under control of the judicial system.
