Before you go jumping on Purdue, the important thing here is that the creep is no longer on the staff there. You think maybe he was told to resign or be terminated? My take is that the University did not stand by him and tossed him as soon as this was brought to their attention. And by resigning, NO UNEMPLOYMENT. Like all universities, there is a lot of liberal dead wood there. But this appears to be a case where University President Mitch Daniels is taking out the trash.
And I graduated from Indiana, so it’s not normally in my nature to stick up for the Toiletmakers.
What is with this “alleged” crap in the article? He did threaten to rape pro life women. That is a fact.
This raises an interesting question. Across the US, both the feds and individual states have sex offender registries. But the states vary widely on what is needed for a new entry to be made on their registry. Most, *but not all* require a criminal conviction.
But there is a twist. If you appear in one states’ registry, it is likely that other states will put you on their registry as well, even though your offense didn’t rise to their level for registration. Call it database overlap, and it happens a lot.
This makes me wonder if Mr. Newman could be put on such a registry, as a “sex offender”. Threatening to rape someone might be grounds in a particular state.
I believe he actually is married to a woman, Amanda Seidl, who is an associate professor at Purdue. A quick peek at her FB page shows one photo of two beautiful children, I’m guessing between the ages of 5 and 10. What a pity they have such a jerk for a father.
