Sarah Palin's PAC spent $1.4 million in 2015, gave just $23,500 to campaigns

Ex-Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin launched her political action fund, Sarah PAC, in 2009 with the stated purpose "to help elect principled conservative leaders" across the country. But the latest Federal Election Commission filing indicates that money raised in small contributions by Sarah PAC is going to consultants, speech-writing services, direct-mail appeals, as well as stays by Palin in fancy hotels.

Sarah PAC raised $950,000 in 2015, spent a total of $1.4 million, and donated just 23,500 to 45 campaigns. It also...

I know it’s rough hanging on to the hope and change Trump promised. You don’t have to. He’s making a fool of you. Look at you. You’re promoting Rahm Emanuel now. You don’t have to go down with him. No one will blame you if you ditch him now. You don’t owe him anything.

I gave 50 bucks and would never ask that question. I bet he gives even more. Once you give, that is it. I think even the Bible says you shouldn’t worry about charity just give it.

Not really. It teaches us that we are not be self-conscious about how charitable we are,

Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly. (Matthew 6:2-4)

But we are also to be wise and good stewards of the mani-fold grace of God, (1Pt. 4:10) "There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up." (Proverbs 21:20) "He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them. His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord." (Matthew 25:22-23)

And thus we should seek to give to those who make the best use of it. The Lord Jesus did allow a known thief to hold the bag however, (Jn. 12:6) which served to manifest him as a child of the devil.

The thing about Trump is that he unites patriots. Doesn’t matter how uninformed a voter is, a low-info patriot gravitates toward Trump when he exposes anti-patriotism.

In a couple years, those low info patriots would transform into informed patriots. His popularity [if he goes back to his November campaign style] would also make him powerful on the bully pulpit, especially when he combines that with ‘Art of the Deal’.

I looked up the FEC report.

For 2015 - where there wasn't many elections. The PAC raised 950K and spent 1.3 million. Only 23K of that money was spent on candidates. 380K cash on hand going into 2016. This PAC is a scam.

If Sarah Palin is in charge but doesn't control the books, she needs to have a sit down with Timothy Crawford (Treasurer) or whomever else controls the books. This wouldn't be the first scam pac that took advantage of a famous politician's name.

“He has given far more money to the Clinton Foundation than he ever gave to vets.”

Another falsehood. Instead of your opinion...give us the facts...where is it?

BTW...he was in good “conservative” company! He was a private citizen and wasn’t spending MY $$$ like Ted is running for higher office...he won’t even do the job he was elected to do and you want to promote him???

These ‘good’ Republicans also gave $$ or their time to promote the Clinton Foundation/initiative.

Newsmax Media, Inc. The media company, which has billed itself as operating the “#1 Conservative Site in the Nation,”

Richard M. Scaife.

News Corporation Foundation

James R. Murdoch. Murdoch, the co-chief operating officer of Fox News parent company 21st Century Fox and son of Rupert Murdoch,

Many Republican Party-affiliated individuals have attended and supported Clinton Foundation-affiliated events, including the annual Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) meetings. They include:

Former first lady Laura Bush, Fox News founder Rupert Murdoch, former GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney, Sen. John McCain, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina, Republican billionaire T. Boone Pickens, former Secretary of State Colin Powell, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, former Bush Treasury secretary Hank Paulson, and former first daughter Barbara Bush.

Romney spoke to CGI in the middle of his 2012 presidential campaign and praised President Clinton for having “devoted himself to lifting the downtrodden around the world. One of the best things that can happen to any cause, to any people, is to have Bill Clinton as its advocate.”
McCain spoke to CGI in September 2008 during his own presidential run, and also praised its efforts, stating: “You know something about great change at the Clinton Global Initiative, because you are striving every day to bring it about. I thank each one of you for the good work you have done to relieve suffering across the earth, and to spread hope. I thank you for the even greater works that you seek to accomplish in the years to come, under the leadership of the man from Hope.”
Laura Bush appeared at CGI in 2006 and said she was “delighted to be a part of this year’s Clinton Global Initiative. Thank you for inviting me, and thank you for the terrific development work you’re doing through your foundation.”

Oh please.

Which is more valuable to a candidate: The modest maximum money contribution, or celebrity personal appearances that draw many other donations and other kinds of support?

This is her own PAC, and is one of the ways to keep politics and personal life separate. As PACs go, this one is almost inconsequential.

Isn’t the point of a PAC to spend money on a candidates behalf since there are limits to what can be given directly? This is stupid.

That's actually a "Superpac," but PAC are supposed to be committees of like minded individuals who donate to candidates who support their views.

On FEC reports, there are two things I want to see - Contributions to Committees or Independent Expenditures. Those are things that actually help candidates get elected. In odd number years, high cash on hand numbers aren't bad to see either since most elections are in even number years. A friend of mine is running for office this year. 80% of his campaign money in 2015 he banked for 2016 since his election is in August.

And the best way for her to help get conservatives elected is to travel around and make speeches and endorsements where it is believed she'd have a positive influence.

In 2015? There aren't many elections in 2015.

Spending as an independent entity is far easier, and in many ways, more effective, than giving to campaigns

Except if it was independent candidate assistance, it would have been listed under independent expenditures instead of operation costs.

Here's an example of a "legit" PAC. NRA-PVF. It raised 9.7 Million in 2015. Operation expenses - 97,000. Much less than these scam pacs.

Other dispersements (State races) - $90,000

Earlier spent 1.5 million on federal races (different reporting period.) 10 Million cash on hand going into the 2016 elections.

It doesn't waste millions of dollars on "consulting costs" and other slush fund operations.
