The snowfall total in Moscow beats 50 years record
mskagency.ru Moscow City News [in Russian] ^

A record amount of snow has fallen this January in Moscow as the Agency of the city news "Moscow" learned from the Director General of the Moscow's and Moscow Region's Meteobureau Mr. Alexey Lyakhov. "An analysis of our last 50 years' records allows us to say that this January is the most snowy since the January of 1970 with its 100 cm of snow (39 3/8 inches). This January's total snowfall has already risen to 104 cm (41 inch) and the month isn't over yet, so the total can grow more. The 50 years average is 40-45 cm (15 3/4-17 5/7 inches)", said Mr. Lyakhov.

According to his words, much snow is good for the city's soil. "Much snow means much water for soil in spring. That's good for the city's greens and trees. Especially because a city's soil is usually dry", said Mr. Lyakhov.

Horribly cold in Asia also. People are freezing to death in their homes. No central heat. What will it take for leftist to admit they were wrong ? How many more millions must die this century ?

Good thing they held on to all those Soviet shovels.

Good thing they held on to all those Soviet shovels.

Well, those shovels are necessary in narrow places.

They care for the penguins in Antarctica only. The weather there has probably grown warmer.

I’m always interested in seeing cold weather in other nations and how they handle it....especially when the populations outside the cities are often poorer.

I’ve been watching the snowfall in Russia this past month...they’ve had some bad ones but I wasn’t aware Asia was having it so bad....

OK .... freeze frame it at 1:16 and notice;

The W110 line on the left goes down through the Arizona SW area and on the right, the E40 line appears to cut through Moscow

THAT northern hemisphere section is about 1/3 of the northern hemisphere

THIS CHART shows a brief summaey of dates and number of above ground detonations by the two countries

Granted, some detonations accured in other parts of the globe, but the goodly portion happened in those two regions

Because of these facts, it is my hypothesis that we knocked ourselves off our axis a bit and THAT is why the weather is so screwy

Most of the detonations for both countries happened in a relatively small window ... Early sixties

Y'just can't pop that many pimples on mama Earth's face and not be affected

IMHO

That may be a good take on it, but I have one of my own. Way back in the dark ages of the '70's, I was in the concrete business. There, I learned that one gallon water equal 8.33 lbs. My hypothesis comes from China building that biggggg dam. It impounds so many gallons that it must have some effect on the earth. Think of placing weights on a wheel for balancing (or in this case, unbalancing!)

May be a combination of things like this massive engineering and what you propose!

There were snow flurries in the Northern New Territories of Hong Kong last night. Just barely within the tropics!

Let's see if I've got your speculation correct. That huge dam which China built is so massive and created so much concentration of water that its weight tipped the earth a bit. It doesn't take much, and the snow belt seems to have shifted.

Correct me please, where I'm getting your thought wrong.

Butterfly effect...seemingly small changes, over time and events, multiply. Would that concentration of water also serve to feed moisture to storms when they pass over? Sort of like the effect of the Great Lakes when they aren't frozen?

hhmmmm Interesting

It seems to be true that in places where it is cold all winter, there is more snow when it is warmer.

Nice try. My hypothesis. The sun don't lie, but humans with tyrannical desires do.

Less snow means global warming.

We know that because the experts have told us so.

More snow means global warming. We know because the very same experts have told us so.

We are lucky to have experts, aren’t we.

They have not yet figured out that what we are seeing is climate self regulating.

Warm oceans and cool air interact similar to the lake effect in the mid-west. More snow and more clouds will eventually cool the oceans and our climate.
