Bernie Sanders is no one's idea of a camera-ready presidential candidate. He's a "democratic socialist" running against an icon of the Democratic establishment. (And as satisfying as anti-establishment sentiment may feel for some right now -- the establishment is still pretty damn important.)
His white hair is kind of wild, he's awkward, doesn't smile much, he hunches over and waves his arms when he speaks. He campaigns in rolled-up shirtsleeves and has pens in his shirt pocket.
When it comes down to it, his radical policy positions and general cranky-grandpa vibe don't exactly scream "President of the United States."

EQ you’ve got it. The Democrat Party has been reduced to running two reds for their presidential candidate (Martin O’Malley is a Marxist-lite). Could make that 2-1/2 Marxist candidates.
Both Hillary and Bernie came out of the Communist Party USA orbit (she through their law firm of Burstein, Treuhaft and Gary), along with Cuban asset Prof. Johnnetta Cole (now with the Smithsonian Institution, while Bernie went from the old anti-communist YPSL’s to the CPUSA-dominated Packinghouse Workers (Pat Gorman, Abe Feinglass, etc) (A lot of Marxists helped the Packingworkers Union including CPUSA member and Soviet asset David Simon Canter, the mentor of David Axelrod).
Sanders is a communist/Marxist nut, period. I’ve met a lot of communists of all stripes from here to Vietnam and he would have been kicked out of most Stalinist parties as a wackjob. They wouldn’t tolerate a loose cannon like him. Maybe Lyndon LaRouche would have taken him in, or Bob Avakian of the Revolutionary Communist Party, etc. but no self-respecting red would want him around to gum up the works with his stupid Marxist spoutings.
Hillary is much smarter, much more greedy, and better trained at being a hardcore leftist but not showing it too much..
However, since the Millenials “Childrens’ Crusade has some steam, it just goes to show you how indoctrinated in Marxist doctrine our young people, esp. those in college, have been. The communists/Marxists’ greatest successes in subverting America have been in the field of academia, esp. the colleges and universitie.
This, plus the dumbing down of American education means that they can be indoctrinated at even younger ages than before and damned few liberals care about it.
