Donald Trump says he will inspire more voters to turn out and vote Republican, like Ronald Reagan did decades ago.
According to the Republican presidential front-runner, his nomination would boost voter turnout just as Reagan did in 1980, the "last time the Republican Party had a crisis of identity."
"When the American people find someone who speaks their language and who they think can deliver on his word, they are going to flock to him, regardless of their political alignment," Trump wrote in an Tuesday night op-ed for USA Today.

He wrote that 7 years after Reagan’s election, History and context sometimes take decades to understand.
Trump is a good public communicator like Reagan. I just hope his politics prove similar too

Don’t most Republican candidates aspire to be more like Reagan? I don’t think that it’s a bad thing.
That first paragraph is very interesting coming from Trump in light of this campaign. I hope he means it.
I seriously doubt that Rush will end up affectionately referring to Trump as “DONALDUS MAGNUS”. Trump would never deserve that honor after he gets through with “picking winners and losers” and, otherwise, pandering.
So did 0. Frankly I would rather Trump be himself than trying to someone else however admirable.
Trump’s campaign is strategically very similar to Reagan’s: take issues that conservatives and moderates agree on and fight the media and the Party establishment by going directly to the voters.
Of course he is no Reagan, but his campaign is very Reaganesque.
Hah! Since Trump knows he’s a conman, and thinks Reagan was a conman, he thinks he’s just like Reagan.
The headline is misleading but who cares. Head’s already exploded.
Me too, then people would dump him and vote for a real conservative.

Well, he did steal Reagan’s slogan.
But the most Reagan-like candidate in the race is Ted Cruz.
In both cases, they managed to get a large buy-in, despite the myriad evidence to the contrary. Some people believe in fantasies.
