Bill that would gut Obamacare would save half a trillion over next decade

A bill that would repeal nearly all Obamacare taxes and mandates will save the taxpayer more than $500 billion over the next decade, according to the Congressional Budget Office.

This is more than originally thought because Republicans successfully delayed the medical devices tax and the "Cadillac Tax" for several years.

The Hill:

Legislation to gut most of ObamaCare's mandates and taxes, known as Restoring Americans’ Healthcare Freedom Reconciliation Act, would reduce the deficit by $516 billion over 10 years, according to the Congressional Budget Office (CBO).

The bill is expected to get a vote in the House this week, and it has already been approved by the Senate. President Obama has said he would veto the bill.

The CBO had previously said the bill would reduce deficits by $474 billion, but the estimates have been reduced in light of the recently enacted governing spending bill. That funding bill, which has already been signed by Obama, delays three key healthcare taxes, which each would have brought billions in revenues.

As part of a congressional deal reached on the spending bill, the so-called Cadillac tax on high-cost healthcare plans is delayed for two years and the medical device tax and the health insurance "premium" tax are paused for two years and one year, respectively.

Republicans are looking to pass their latest bill targeting ObamaCare through a budget process known as reconciliation. Under the Senate’s rules, a party that controls both chambers can pass legislation with a simple majority, sending a bill gutting ObamaCare to the president’s desk for the first time.

That number is somewhat deceiving, because there will almost certainly be an effort to pass some kind of health insurance reform.

How about “we” save “it” all and totally defund it. Prolly not gonna happen. Heck, with the current crop of clowns, there will probably be an increase.

In the tyrannical era of Hussein the monster, we’ve learned, or should have learned, that any statistic claim or budgetary assertion made by any agency of the US government is, prima facie, absolute, unadulterated bullshit. Any argument that uses a governmental statistic as its foundation is total nonsense and should be dismissed out of hand. And that’s that!

What does "save" $500B actually mean? Does that mean the spending INCREASE is $500B less than projected? If so, we aren't "saving" anything. We're still losing our a$$ and increasing spending.

We need to eliminate baseline budgeting and talk about real numbers, real increases and decreases in spending year over year. I wish Trump and Cruz would talk about that.

ObamaCare Extended To Policing Gun Ownership

BY THOMAS MCARDLE

11:09 AM ET

“If you like your gun, you can keep your gun” is definitely not anything you’ll be hearing from President Obama soon.

You may never have thought that a simple visit to the doctor could lead to the FBI breathing down your neck, but the president’s new executive actions on gun control could lead to just that, mortally wounding the long-established presumption of doctor-patient confidentiality.

Obama’s directives apparently trump long-standing federal rules preventing doctors from disclosing mental health matters. Now the executive branch will “expressly permit certain HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996) covered entities to disclose to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) the identities of individuals who are subject to a Federal ‘mental health prohibitor’ that disqualifies them from shipping, transporting, possessing or receiving a firearm.”

Currently, if a doctor discloses a patient’s private information without that patient’s authorization, the physician could be sued for malpractice or invasion of privacy. The president now apparently wants violating that confidential bond to be treated as an act that promotes public safety.

And the question of “mental health” is entirely subjective. If you tell your doctor you woke up Monday morning feeling like killing yourself, or that your spouse made you mad enough to reach for your hunting rifle, will that warrant a call to the FBI? Will a federal SWAT team then pounce, just in case you have a gun or two in the house? Such law enforcement overreach is by no means an outlandish scenario.

The ObamaCare database, it turns out, was only the beginning of this administration’s violations of the medical privacy of Americans. Now doctors are set to be enlisted in the nation’s federal gun police.

Actually, it’s refreshing to see an acknowledgment of where those funds are extracted.

Course, if D.C. followed the Constitution, I could show a CONSIDERABLE savings to the taxpayers as well.
