GOP presidential contender Ted Cruz said Tuesday that he disagrees with rival Donald J. Trump's plan to ban Muslims from coming into the United States until the federal government can ensure that those coming into the nation do not pose a threat to the country.
"I do not agree with his proposal," the Texas senator said at a press conference on Capitol Hill. âI do not think it is the right solution.â
Mr. Cruz said that some have encouraged him to criticize Mr. Trump, but said he will not to so. Instead, he said he is pushing solutions aimed at putting a three year moratorium on refugees from Syria and Iraq, and giving governors more power to stop refugees from being resettled in their states.
Mr. Trump has tangled with most of the candidates in the GOP field ..with the exception of Mr. Cruz .. though he warned at a rally in South Carolina that he will respond in kind if Mr. Cruz attacks him.

Ted Cruz is wrong ... Yikes !
How does a Iraq/Syria moratorium solve the problem presented by the San Bernadino shooters?
Donald Trump is correct: America is at WAR with Islam.
Did we allow German Nazis to enter during WW2 ?
Ted Cruz may have just lost Iowa.
About what I expected from Cruz.
I liked Cruz until now. He is wrong on this issue and Donald Trump is right.
Why does he oppose this? The president has the legal authority to ban people from any nation and class that he deems detrimental to the interests of the US.
Exactly. Tashfeen Malik came from neither Iraq or Syria.
Think of how dumb the Cruz suggestion is. Once one governor lets them in, they can travel where-ever they want.
By then it may be too late, but I think Trump is right. In fact, I know he's right.
Is Cruz flip flopping again?
He's a legislator. They try to be on both sides of any fence, until it's clear what the consensus is going to be.
Trump is an executive.
Yesterday itwas pointed out that Cruz did not say what Trump said first. He was talking about refugees only.
So Ted, what is the difference refugees or immigrants, in this war? They are all muslims and there is only ONE Islam. There is not a nice Islam or a not nice Islam. They are all death cult members.
You lost me, Ted. The Syrian refugees go to the EU and get their passports so they don’t come from Syria or Iraq on paper.
Yeah, that’ll really fix things Ted.
"The President should place an immediate moratorium on refugees from countries with a significant al Qaeda or ISIS presence, such as Syria. I've introduced legislation to make this happen; it is not a desired step, but a necessary step for the security of the United States."The Washington Times claims:
"GOP presidential contender Ted Cruz said Tuesday that he disagrees with rival Donald J. Trump's plan to ban Muslims from coming into the United States until the federal government can ensure that those coming into the nation do not pose a threat to the country."Who's telling the truth?!?
Syria and Iraq? The latest murdering terrorist came from Saudi Arabia via Pakistan. They are all the same. A terrorist muslim nation is a terrorist muslim nation.
I am a Cruz supporter but that support has just taken a sledgehammer of a blow.
Giving governors more power over refugees being resettled in their states? Mr. Constitution needs to pull his copy out and look at it again.
Say it ain’t so, Ted. Say it ain’t so!!!!
He is correct, use political not relgious terms and it works a lot better.
Moratorium on visa from person from x y and z countries is far more palatable but with the same net effect. In fact maybe more so as muslim is not identifiable compared to nation of origin.
Cruz is my first pick, but he is wrong on this. We will not prosper until we achieve some sort of parity in immigration that includes the downtrodden and Muslim-persecuted Christians trying to flee the oppression of Jihadist Islam.
When only 0.4% of ‘refugees’ are Christian, it is clearly evident that the official US Government stance on immigration is biased against saving Christians in peril.
Jews and Christians in this country should be highly concerned about the genocide Islam is attempting against indigenous Christians in the areas they control. Yet our government ignores the Christians and prefers to bring more of the oppressors to this country.
What is wrong with that picture?
Here’s the difference and why temp wins
A guy who knows the Constitution inside and out and can argue it can’t work for it 100% in a political job. Not now
Maybe Cruz really thinks this. Then again, since it takes mountains of money to run a campaign now we don’t know. Cruz certainly works for the constitution more than any politician. But
