Trump thinks Carson is lying. He doesn’t like Politico, but that’s not the only source for Carson’s lies. Carson’s own words are one source. His Facebook post about West Point as well as his own statements in his autobiography. Trump knows Carson is lying, regardless of his opinion of Politico.

I think it’s likely Carson embellished some stuff.
And what happens when one embellishes things? It becomes a chaotic, “He said, she said” slap-fest over allegations and claims of what was exactly said.

Politico had to retract their hit piece on Carson. Carson’s book says he was at a dinner with military medal winners and was offered a scholarship to West Point. He says in the book, he didn’t pursue that as he wanted to be a doctor.
In fact, right now Carson is on TV and once again tells that very story. Politico was wrong.
