Help! Looking for an Obama Interview from 2007!

Hey all!

I've been inactive for a while but now I need your help.

You see, back in 2007 I watched an interview with then candidate Obama wherein he actually discussed what he deemed his great strength as a candidate in the context of answering a question about if people who vote for him will end up being disappointed in a President Obama.

I remember the conversation with reasonable clarity BUT I do not remember who the interview was with, what channel ... though I'm pretty sure that it had to be before the election.

Here is why this is important: what Obama said about his strength as a candidate.

In essence he said that people who voted for him would often be disappointed because he will prove to not be the person that they thought they had voted for.

He said that his being an unknown was a considerable advantage because it meant that, without a ready made public persona, people would be free to invent or imagine their own personal "Obama" to vote for and that they would vote for THAT rather than him.

So when he wasn't THAT he said at the time that they would end up being disappointed ... but of course it would be too late by then.

You may recognize that the "Hope and Change" slogan was in fact perfectly suited to help take full advantage of, and indeed encourage, this kind of personalized delusions about Obama.

I have ever since maintained that here Obama let slip the very core of his deceptive and manipulative campaign strategy for 2007. That his supporters were played upon with great skill and forethought and that it was no mere invention of the moment that he pondered this was a strength that he had.

It was campaign stratagem #1 from the get go. Indeed, it may explain why those who advanced him wanted someone who was largely unknown to run.

Of course while I actually saw the exchange it doesn't matter one jot with a Democrat that I saw it because they haven't ... or if they have asking me to present it is a great way to debunk it without actually dealing with the truth of what I'm saying.

And of course I'm fully aware that I could show them the actual video and most will be able to explain it away ... after all it's just old news and I'm petty for bringing it up (just like so many Democrat misdeeds tend to become old news that they've got over and aren't troubled by those or anything only that bad or a little worse: or how I describe them never jumping out of the proverbial heating frying pan where a frog would).

Does anyone know which interview this was?

I think on more than one occasion...what you describe was dragged out by the journalist doing the interview. Most...I think...were early 2007.

On the whole of the matter...this was a guy in 2008 who had a eight-line resume. Other than journalists just grinning and passing by the logic of voting for a guy with just eight lines on his resume...it was comical how it all came down. Hillary herself....was beaten by a guy with almost no resume.

Go back and ask during this whole community adviser work that he did...what awards did he earn in Chicago or at the national level for his work? He was never recognized by anyone in Chicago, or any charity group.

Ironically, I think he could have never been elected had he had anything to be recognized for.

It may well be from the day he had his coming out party at the Ayers’ home those advancing him already understood how an unknown that looked good, that sounded good — and that was “historical” enough — could get people to vote for their own fantasies which just happened to share his name on the ballot.

Voting “present” then becomes one way of being there without ever being burdened by being there ... for instance.

Advancement by marking time ... and people on the left sometimes have issues with folks inheriting wealth?

I think the 2012 race came down to three factors over the loss for Romney. First, in the south...there was no real enthusiasm for the guy. Second, the news media carried the message of his business past and labeled him as a problem. The fact that 2008’s Senator Obama had almost no past never seemed to bother them. Then you come to the third problem...I would say nationally....the Republicans did a lousy marginal job of running the primary episode and getting national enthusiasm behind Romney.

Let’s remember one thing....Hillary was absolutely set to win the 2008 election, and wasted months of effort in Iowa to lose to a no-name Illinois Senator. Presently, she’s set to win the 2016 Presidential primary....ONLY because there’s no real competition.

Here another effect may come into play: the “I didn’t make a mistake” vote.

Or when people vote because their pride is on the line.

This should be a logical consequence of getting people to vote for their fantasies. It is an effect that could explain why people, once they’ve circled the wagons, can become so often entrapped by those they once defended ... like flies in amber. Their emotional investment in being right to ever have done so becomes their chains.

I remember sending emails to people linking to CPUSA and their endorsements of Obama. Both times they endorsed him.
I even had more than one relative reply back that it was a fake website.
I'm serious, they could not believe the there was actually THE CPUSA and it was just a “dirty Republican trick”. These people were of the FDR democrat type. Their all dead now. I hope their vote is...

As a young person in the 60s 70s and 80s, I remember hearing about people “moving with the times”. They’d say, “Come on man, you’ve got to get with the times” and so on but you know what?...Not anymore! Fortunately, there is an alternative- Conservatism.

When he got to Treasury, WH COS Rahm Emanuel was so involved in the inner workings of the Treasury that the phrase "Rahm wants it" had become an unofficial mantra among subservient govt staffers, prostrate in obeisance, scurrying to accede to Rahm's wishes, according to Treasury government officials.
