GOP presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz sought to distance himself from front-runner Donald Trump this week, saying the mogul would not be the partys pick for 2016.
Asked during an interview with WABC's Rita Cosby if he could eventually defeat Trump based on his own principles, the Texas senator, who posted impressive third-quarter fundraising numbers Thursday said, "I think that's right.

To do what needs to be done the candidate needs a network outside of the professional political class. That IMO is what Cruz doesnt have to the extent Trump does. Id love to see Cruz in the administration in some capacity but not without Trump.
Cruz has a far greater chance of getting steamrollered by the status quo than Trump.
My thoughts on the first thread to cover this topic.

Bingo...
What would anyone expect him to do but to join in with the other sidelined hecklers who are getting politically murdered.
My question of Cruz: can he actually win?
Word must have come down that the VP spot would be going to Carson instead of Cruz. IMO a mistake but I guess Trump feels he can get more of the vote by far that way in the main election.
My comments were posted on the other thread, but basically went sometime like, what is he supposed to say? He’s running for President. Is he supposed to just say well, yes, of course Trump is going to win, I’m juts in this to make money?
I do think Trump will prevail, though, and the comments about where Cruz is polling now I think would be a concern to the campaign, notwithstanding the financial support received.
The question I have is, what happens to the money the candidate receives while running if they drop out?
I love you Ted, but this is not your year. You can best help America by standing ready to by Trump’s first SCOTUS pick.
"Big talk" from the guy who supports the guy who has withdrawn already.
No one cares what you think.
Cruz should know better, or does he? The mere mention of Trump’s possible defeat is guaranteed headlines. Maybe Cruz is tired of coasting in the lower percentile and needs some headlines.
Don’t beat me up, just sayin’
I could have sworn this was in breaking seconds ago...lol
Yes, he certainly can.
How do you think Scott Walker would have answered this when he still had a percentage to average?
Oh no! A political candidate who believes that one of the other candidates in the same race won’t beat them!
Such arrogance! Such ego! Such delusional rhetoric!
Of course, I bet Scott Walker would have said the same thing up until the very moment he made the decision to drop out.
I bet Jeb Bush would answer the same way. So would Ben Carson, Carly Fiorina, Bobby Jindal, George Pataki, Lindsay Graham, Mike Huckabee, Paul Rand, Rick Santorum, Marco Rubio, John Kasich, and Chris Christie.
What a collection of arrogant jerks who are all in a race that they don’t believe Donald Trump will win!
If Ted Cruz had said “I think Trump will win the nomination”, he would lose all donors and half of his polling numbers in a single moment. It’s a stupid, asinine question to ask of any candidate and the only thing more stupid and asinine is the inane babbling of the sissy-marys on threads like this using his answer to suggest he had any other way of answering.
I’m looking for the reaction to this comment. That will tell us where the heck it came from. Giving it a week
My thoughts also in the first thread. Cruz has failed and should get out before he is further embarrassed. Mr. H1B is not in step with American, has minimal support, been humoresque by Trump, now risks his scorn. The pic of Cruz in the too large by several size suit was just devastating.
You may have a point. As much as we the public pretend to expect and to reward honest in out politicians, most would hear Cruz’s supportive Trump remarks as a point of his surrender. We expect the competitors to either directly oppose each other and compete, or outmanuver their opponent.
Some conservatives probably already think Ted has been acting too much like Trumps running mate or supporter.
Cats and Dogs playing together!!!
Are we supposed to be surprised that Cruz is running because he wants to win the nomination, and not because he wants Trump to win it?
It’s kinda like a reporter asking Nick Saban if he thinks Alabama is going to win tomorrow.
Course they wouldn’t dare ask Saban a stupid question like that because he would chew their head off.....but still.
