Syria, backed by Russian jets, launches ground assault against rebels

Beirut (dpa) - Syrian government forces, backed by Russian warplanes, launched a multi-pronged assault Wednesday on rebel positions north and north-west of the central city of Hama, a monitoring group said.

The Syrian troops pushed north toward rebel-held towns and villages, including Khan Sheikhoun and Latamina - both of which have been hit in Russian airstrikes, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

The fighting was the fiercest seen in the area for months and was accompanied by intense Russian air raids, the Britain-based Observatory said.

"All Russian airstrikes and firepower have not helped the [Syrian] regime to advance on the ground except in Latamina," the Observatory's head, Rami Abdel-Rahman, said.

Clashes were underway between Syrian forces and Islamist rebels in the area where Russian jets carried out at least 30 raids, the watchdog reported. No casualties were given.

Seems they are now taking back ground, focusing on abandoned military installations.

The Russians are smart focusing on the Free Syrian Army.

As the Americans focus in ISIS.

How many CIA agents have been killed?

Just wait until pics of Russian troops freeing sex slaves.

Who will be viewed as heros?

Obola and McCain created ISIS and the rape
and sexual slavery of women
(thank you, Arizona and Illinois).

They will be freed by the Putin and the Russians.

Have Americans EVER been so ashamed of their country’s
evil Administration (from the White Mosque to the
complicit, lying, scheming, and EXEMPT GOP)?

This could quickly end the migration crisis in Europe that the international community seems helpless to do anything about.

How do you know if they’re ISIS?

Easy. If they run they’re ISIS. If they’re standing still. They’re well disciplined ISIS!

The Russians have been targeting groups under the umbrella of “ Islamic State” which includes Al Nusra aka Al Qaeda and Muslim brotherhood of Syria .... The Russians are trying politically to entice FSA into joining them in the battle vs US and USILpossibly as part of incorporating them into a future government... But anyone who shoots at a Russian or the SAA is an enemy

No, some installations are abandoned because the IS are fleeing, surrendering and being killed

But it is too early yet to start toting up ground gains

Give Putin at least a few more weeks!

This article means that Russian troops are less than 250 miles from Megiddo. Some of you may realize what that means.
