Federal prosecutors have brought charges against a former worker at Germanys foreign intelligence agency who is suspected of passing information to American spies.
The 32-year-old former Bundesnachrichtendienst (BND) worker is accused of treason, infringing official secrets and corruption after passing secrets to the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in exchange for cash. [ ]
The alleged spy joined the BND in 2007 and worked for the CIA from 2008, they said.
He passed documents and confidential internal information about the work and personnel of the BND to his American handlers in exchange for payments totaling 95,000.
A search of the accuseds computer last year showed that he had a list including the real and cover names of 3,500 BND agents overseas on his hard drive.

Interesting as the US and the CIA will also be on trial here.
I just watched a movies called “Safehouse” the other night and it was the first thing I thought of when I saw the headline about double agents - good movie, likely similar to what was going on here with someone selling secrets to both sides ...
china, russia, england, israel HACK this info for FREE
why is the USA spying on Germany
why is the USA spying on Germany.
The US should be able to get any info on germany it needs legally.
Probably because Germany’s spying on the USA. The BND is no innocent in any sphere.
Germany’s currently the de facto leader of the EU. They have been speaking a lot more anti-US propaganda than usual ever since the 2008 financial crisis. Not exactly a friend of the USA.
Maybe but seems to me I’ve read that the BND and NSA share data. Or that may be a one way street.
I would think that reading hillary’s email would make one stupider. but that’s just me.
The most interesting stuff is not what either the german government or the US government does but rather what the companies in the respective countries do.
Its technological innovation that drives politics these days. imho.
anti-US propaganda than usual ever since the 2008 financial crisis.
a lot of that is anti obama. hard not to agree with them.
under obama friends don’t trust us and enemies don’t fear us.
