Trump towers above rivals on policy issues as Republican voters say they trust him most on economy, immigration and ISIS.

New CNN/ORC poll: 45 per cent of GOP voters say Trump is the Republican candidate they trust most to handle the economy.

That number is up an astonishing 25 points since June and no other GOP candidate is in double-digits.

Trump gets top marks from 44 per cent of Republicans on illegal immigration, his signature issue – up 30 points in the last two months.

Overall Trump scores 24 per cent support among registered Republicans, nearly twice the number posted by nearest rival Jeb Bush.

Donald Trump is towering above his rivals in a new poll that frames his candidacy as Republicans' favored path to deal with specific policy problems like the ISIS terror army, illegal immigration and a stumbling U.S. economy.

The Trump juggernaut hasn't stopped rolling since the billionaire announced he would run for the White House in earnest, but a new poll from CNN and Opinion Research Corporation has solidified his standing as head and shoulders – and hair – above the Republican competition.

As the tycoon begins to roll out policy specifics with a series of immigration-related pledges this week, pollsters and political insiders are watching to see if the GOP rank-and-file find them credible.

So far, so good: The CNN/ORC poll found 45 per cent named Trump as the Republican candidate they trust most to handle the economy, a number that has vaulted 25 points in the last two months. , No other GOP candidate is in double-digits.

Similarly, 44 per cent give Trump the highest numbers on the question of who can best tackle illegal immigration as president. That's up 30 points since June.

Of course

He is going to take Iraq's oil, make Mexico build the fence and force Chine to send back our manufacturing plants.

None of the others had the guts or brains to do that.

Funny how success makes mediocrity look even worse. That’s what Trump looks like up next to 95% of the supposedly brilliant field of GOP candidates.

Most of them are career politicians who are as Trump rightly pointed out owned by their mega donors. Not one of them with the exception of Cruz and Paul would make any significant changes in our government as President. They would simply manage the decay and re-arrange the deck chairs on the Titanic.

“Mr bankruptcy.”

Perhaps Mr Trump should have given up after declaring bankruptcy, sat there shaking his head saying “poor me”, but he didn’t, and THAT is what makes a successful person: the drive to keep on keeping on until goals are reached. I strongly suspect that failure is not an option for Mr Trump.

A lot of people on here don’t understand that a business bankruptcy is just a restructuring of debts - it isn’t a personal one. I wish people would educate themselves. This isn’t aimed at you, but in reference to your answer to the person who made the comment, Mr. Bankruptcy. Besides, how many Americans have had to file bankruptcy since 2008? He can identify with them in that aspect.

I suspect the second half of this year is going to be very bad for the markets and the economy.

If that comes to pass, Trump will pull away from the pack and they will never catch up.

Juggernaut.

Only those with the deepest pockets will survive until the end of the year.

Jeb is spending $15mil on ads in IA, NH and NC in the month of SEPTEMBER to try to raise his sagging numbers.

I'm sure Trump has half dozen ads in the can, waiting to see if he will be attacked...which is nearly certain.

This early spending is unprecedented.

.....a business bankruptcy is just a restructuring of debts - it isn’t a personal one........they still have to pay back the money........

Good point....and I'm not so sure Donald himself made the decision to file Chapter 11. But Donald would never assign blame to someone else....he's very loyal. He employs a lot of high-powered execs and business-savvy lawyers to monitor his business empire.

These are not "yes-men." One ex-Trump exec wrote a book---said many times they overruled a Donald decision. Ergo, I'm not so sure bankruptcy was Donald's idea.

The A/C bankruptcy was in the banks' best interests---they had lent Donald so much money, they were literally in business w/ him. So restructuring that debt helped out the banks.

You can have him. He is NOT a conservative - he is a progressive.

Of course no one wants to do their homework. Let’s just vote for the bully - the squeaky wheel, the guy who promises us everything.

He would be an embarrassment to the presidency, just as much as 0bama is.

You have to admit that because of Trump, the conversation on key conservative issues, primarily illegal immigration, has been brought to the forefront. I’ll agree that his background certainly is not a clear display of conservative principles. Is he genuine about all that he is professing now? I sure hope so. What Trump HAS done is gotten people excited about this election by bringing up the key issues that the fucking mainstream republicans just keep giving lip service to and then once elected toe the Libtard party line, throwing us conservatives under the bus. Personally, I will never vote for a libtard. If given the opportunity, I’ll be voting for Cruz. However, due to the fucking republican stranglehold on getting their POS into office, they organize the primaries in such a way that by the time I get a chance to vote in such, the candidate has been chosen already. The fucking republicans LIKE having strong Libtard states such as the East Coast and California to have their primaries first because those states tend to align with libtard candidates better. Now IF Trump is on the ballot and Cruz is not, I’ll most certainly be voting for him. But I will NOT vote for a libtard of the Uniparty no matter if they call themself a democrat or a republican. Libtards are doing their best to destroy this nation. On the other hand, Donald Trump actually builds things, which is probably more than ANY of the other candidates can say. As much as I do not think either Mr Paul or Mr Carson are ready for the presidency, they too actually DO something such as help people medically.

I have a HUGE bias and aversion to both East Coast and West Coast candidates. It’s very hard for me to get over that. So when I see that someone like Trump is actually doing and saying the right things, it doesn’t really fit into my world. I WANT to dislike him, but he is showing no reason to do such at this time.
