Which has been judicially interpreted as including the children of those present without permission. How could you interpret it? The language is pretty straightforward.

Sounds to me like exclusive jurisdiction is intended. I.e. these are “our” people and not “someone else’s” people.

... again in context, this was about freedmen.

Or...you don't even have to strip them of citizenship. Just say hey, you may be a citizen, but you're parents aren't, and they're getting deported. You can choose to take your kid back home with you or surrender parental rights and leave him here to be adopted. If you leave him here, the adoption records are expunged and you never get to contact him again.
And...whether he stays or goes, he, as citizen and legal resident will NEVER be granted the preference to bring you back like other legal residents get with family members. (The preference part is policy, not law, as far as I know, so it shouldn't be hard to change, and even if it is, get Congress to pass a bill enacting it into law)

“...and subject to the jurisdiction thereof..”
are persons who cross the border and enter the country illegally “subject to the jurisdiction?”

Look up the word “Preposterous” (cross reference: cart before the horse) to describe the attempt to use this to declare these persons to be citizens.

If he will do it. He’ll be the greatest President in history. I want to see his position on guns first.

This isn’t the question. The question is how does this end up implying full blown citizenship.

If Trump is wise and wants the political momentum he will take a libertarian stance here.

Yes, like it ruled “gay marriage.” Trump is going to need a chapter in his plan dealing with how to get such eight balls out of the way.

And it’s also possible that law could be amended. What, for example, currently excludes the children of foreign ambassadors physically born here? It isn’t a constitutional thing. It has to be a law thing.
