Trump Open to Keeping Most Taxpayer Funding for Planned Parenthood
The Weekly Standard ^ | AUG 11, 2015 | John McCormack

Posted on 08/11/2015 5:17:46 PM PDT by Republican Wildcat

On CNN this morning, Donald Trump suggested that he's open to allowing Planned Parenthood to keep more than $500 million in taxpayer funding it receives every year. CNN's Chris Cuomo repeated the dishonest Planned Parenthood talking point that only 3 percent of its "services" are abortions and that federal funding doesn't directly pay for abortions. Trump suggested that he's open to keeping government funding for the "good aspects" of Planned Parenthood:

Trump: I would look at the individual things that they do, and maybe some of the things are good, and maybe, I know a lot of the things are bad. But certainly the abortion aspect of it should not be funded by government, absolutely.

CNN: So you would take a look at it before you'd defund it. That's what's being asked right now. Many in your party are doing the opposite. They're saying defund it, and then look at it. You're saying look at it first.

Trump: I would look at the good aspects of it. I'm sure they do some things properly and good and good for women. And I would look at that.

Trump: #PlannedParenthood is "abortion factory," but would take a look at it before defunding http://t.co/oixQvbltcs http://t.co/PnO9knul9U

— CNN Politics (@CNNPolitics) August 11, 2015

The recent bill to defund Planned Parenthood targeted more than $500 million the organization receives mostly through Medicaid and the Title X contraception program.* This taxpayer money does not directly pay for abortion but it may subsidize the salaries of abortionists and their staffs and help pay the rent and utilities at abortion facilities. The bill wouldn't have cut funding at all; the money would be redirected to the thousands of community health centers and other clinics that do not perform abortions.

Then that's the current policy, and the same exact logic Planned Parenthood uses in arguing the taxpayer funding doesn't fund it's abortion business because it goes into a "separate account." It's difficult to believe Trump does not understand the basic concept of funding a bottom line allows the organization to put its other resources elsewhere and thus, taxpayers are indeed supporting the abortion business. The "straight talker" is trying to have it both ways.

p>If you want to see for yourself what he said, here's a video starting about 6:15 and going at 7:15. He keeps digging a hole. He says that he's sure they do some things properly and good. (6:41)

He also won't say life from the moment of conception. He also revalidates that he likes the exceptions of "rape, incest, or life and health"

Bottom line is that there are NO aspects of Planned Butcherhood that should be funded. None whatsoever. Period. End of Story.

I want to go far beyond merely defunding Murder, Inc., the proper name for Planned Parenthood. That evil outfit must be totally annihilated. It simply cannot exist and its staff and management ought to all be serving life sentences for the slaughtering of millions of children. It and its enabler, the Susan G. Komen Foundation, simply have no place in America.

But, but, he had a reality show. And he wrote a book. And he’s rich. And Reagan was a democrat once too and you’re just a GOPe.

This is the real Donald Trump. He will also be open to banning AR’s and AK’s when he evolved again. No core so he can sway with wind quite easily.

And Planned Parenthood apparently has more definite information from behind the scenes or pre-campaign. The following, just in.

We can trust him. Right? He's only 69 years old and wouldn't have been set in his ways before his campaign began around 2011. Right?

The man behind Donald Trump's run
Ben Schreckinger and Cate Martel

Greg Moore, who replaced him as AFP’s New Hampshire director, said his old boss excels at the “blocking and tackling” of political agitation.

“He always made sure the ‘i’s are dotted and ‘t’s are crossed,” said Moore. “I assure you the trains will run on time.”

"He said he might want to fund non-abortion services."

What non-abortion services? PP performs zero mammograms.

Trump is uninformed and trying to say what he thinks will sound good.
