When will Jim banish Trump supporters from FR, like he did with Giuliani advocates? [JR @ 305]
one man's opinion...

Posted on 07/25/2015 2:15:15 PM PDT by ken5050

On 4/23/2007, Jim Robinson posted a manifesto, "Giuliani as the GOP presidential nominee would be a dagger in the heart of the conservative movement" (and a knife in the back) . The thread was subtitled, "The only difference in a Liberal Rudy Giuliani and Liberal Hillary Clinton is the fact of which bathrooms they select to use and there are some who are willing to even question that.

I didn’t use the word. I was agreeing with the post.

I never use “Democratic”.

Hey Windy! Good to come across you in this thread. It seems like only yesterday we had a great late-night conversation going about Motown and The Temptations.

Back to the topic. My preference when referring to the party of treason is any of the following:

That's why I generally refer to past presidents from the party of treason as JFKKK, KKKarter and, of course, KKKlintoon. My goal is to emphasize that the Ku Klux Klan was -- and still is -- an anti-Christian, anti-American DemonRAT outfit.

I did not mean to imply that I had extensive conversations with him. Sometimes one positive interaction is enough to leave a mark. He came to my aid when a cruel poster posted a very offensive picture in a reply to me so it ended up in my comment history and I needed it gone. I remember that well. Other than that I only remember a general impression, enough to have wondered where he was. If he never posted I would not have know he existed in the world.

There are other old FReepers I wonder about. I am just one of those people who remembers people who made an impression on me and hope things are well with them. It would be fun to have a FReeper reunion day just to see what people are up to. For me, I left for a long stretch because of some other things that demanded my attention.

I see that now. I guess I always look for quotation marks or italics to denote the re-post of another's remarks.

Good on ya!

Why don’t you ask Mr. Robinson? Why are you asking us? Personally, I’d hate to see that happen. Politicians and their staffs, media people, talk radio people and D.C. insiders do peruse this site, from what I’m told. I’d hate for Free Republic to get on the fightin’ side “The Donald”. Whatever Mr. Robinson decides is totally his prerogative.

One more thing: From the few posted comments from Mr. Robinson re: Trump, he seems to like “The Donald”. Maybe you should just ban yourself.

I was cleaning out some things yesterday and ran across my FReeper Clinton Cookbook. It was so hilarious. Were you here when that was offered? I also have some old FReeper stuff like a poster of the House Managers, a button, a t-shirt, and then also a later t-shirt from the Sore/Loserman era. All that stuff starts reminding me of some of the old freeper crowd.

You sure have got a good memory. I would have completely forgotten that thread if you hadn't just mentioned it. That was a great, non-political conversation.

As to the DemoKKKrats, yeah, they were the party of Jim Crow and slavery. Too bad most Dem voters aren't aware of their party's real history.

As a counterpoint, I read somewhere (Wikipedia?) that the Republican party of Texas was founded by a group of black Texans.

How 'bout them apples, Dems?

Got it. I suppose an interaction that personal would leave a lasting impression. I guess you could always shoot John Rob a freepmail and see if he answers. Might be worth a try.

Anyway, like you, I don’t like “Democratic” and usually call people out on it.

I believe I first started reading here in about 2004. Freeper Josh Painter and I used to belong to a biker forum where he often posted articles with links back to FR. It's how I found my way here.

My memories of that time are pretty muddy, as I wasn't a participating member at the time.

I finally created an account in 2007. I would have done so sooner, but life was unbelievably hectic for me in the years prior to that. Now it's getting busy again, so weekends are about the only time I can really Freep like I used to. I averaged 30 posts a day here for years and years.

I think that puts you in the long time freeper category.

I found it way back when everyone was on AOL and AOL had chat rooms called “From the Right” and “From the Left.” I hung out for longer than I should have in “From the Right,” met someone there who told me about FR. I considered it for awhile and then one day decided to investigate it more thoroughly. It doesn’t take long to get hooked. I didn’t love my first FReeper name so I changed it. Then got upset with something (you know how battles go on Internet forums) and left — came back with another name. So I have been here longer than it looks.

Oooh, you didn't put quotation marks around my comment. Nothing personal, but that's one of my pet peeves.

When quotation marks or some other obvious demarcation is missing from a quoted passage, the reader can't tell a poster's original comments from the words of others they're re-posting.

"Quote marks"

Italics

Bolded

------ separator line ------

All of those work for me, and they're not just helpful, but respectful of those you're quoting.

As a counterpoint, I read somewhere (Wikipedia?) that the Republican party of Texas was founded by a group of black Texans.

How about this to show that the party of sessession and the Klan was bravely fought here in Texas by a coalition comprised mostly of black Patriots and a couple of handfuls of white Texans:

In July 1867 twenty whites and 150 blacks attended a Republican convention in Houston, where they endorsed free common schools and free homesteads from public lands for blacks and whites alike. Thus began a decades-long tradition of black Republicanism in the state. Despite widespread violence and intimidation by the Ku Klux Klan and Democrats, many black men registered for the first election in which they could participate-the 1868 referendum on whether to hold another constitutional convention and elect delegates. More blacks than whites cast ballots, and, with their white allies, they overcame the opposition of the majority of white voters and voted to hold another convention.

There's a lot more about the rise of the Republican party in this link from the Texas State Historical Association. But you're right, today's strong Republican party here in the Lone Star State has it roots in brave black people advancing the cause of liberty!
