The problem I see here is that there are very different visions of this God prevailing, so different that they are inimical.
A God that makes it all about men is going to be different from a God that makes it all about Himself, for example.
I have found final living success with faith in a God that makes it all about Himself. A God who isn’t straining His ideas of either judgment or mercy through a human committee bent on doing what makes them feel good (and face it, sometimes we really thrill at the idea of certain parties being damned, no chance at reconciliation with God even if God Himself wants or plans it).
This has put me at odds with a lot of theology out there. You’d think grace would be an easy sell, but that’s only so until it’s your enemy getting it.
However, I am left with no choice. No mercy for His other enemies (”contemners” as the Battle Hymn Of The Republic puts it) equates to no mercy for me, who has also been His enemy. Maybe some other folks like to dance around in that trap. I won’t do it.
Well, you’re either with us in this fight or you’re against us. Your choice.
