Well I was raised RC and I promise you that referring to the Body of Christ as a ‘little cracker’ is about as offensive an insult as it gets.
He’s not Catholic. He’s Presbyterian.
Come on Norm....ease up a bit...
They use soup crackers and grape juice. The meaning of the ritual is all about the thought behind it and trump just said he does not ask for forgiveness.
Like I said, Trump just locked up the Catholic vote.
People would not vote for Romney because he was a Mormon; and we got 8 years of Obama. Why? Was it because Romney was stupid and incompetent for the office of the President? Because he was corrupt? No, it was solely because Romney was going to a church others didn’t agree with - so we all got Obamacare, 8 years of a lousy economy, worsening unemployment, stagnant wages, an influx of illegals, the worst race relations in 50 years, our enemies emboldened and our allies betrayed - but we kept a Mormon out of the White House. Nice work.
Now, we have people in the party who are looking for a reason to put Hillary in the White House because Trump didn’t address Communion in the way that they would.
If this is the way we behave - we richly deserve everything the libtards throw at us.
Slowly but surely, Trump will keep talking and will alienate most of the people who ardently support him for who they think he is. How much damage he does remains to be seen. He won’t really hurt himself because he can still socialize with good friends Bill and Hillary.
Knowing your posting history Norm, there isn't much that doesn't offend you.........
With the exception of a candidate claiming to be a Muslim, I could care less about crackers and wine.
You should be more concerned about love offerings, prayer towels, talking in tongues and pedophilia. Those are definite turn offs to me..................
stay cool in the north country !
Offensive—you bet.
I thought there was a cease and desist on Catholic bashing issued yesterday.
Well you must be in the minority of Catholics then. Most Catholics tossed away their principles a long time ago. Whether it's divorce, birth control, abortion, no meat on Fridays, etc., etc., most Catholics show up in church on Sundays (if they show up at all) in shorts and sneakers and do what they damn well please the rest of the week, despite what the Vatican says.
Speaking of the Vatican, even the Pope is now yapping about "global warming" and saying that "unfettered" capitalism is a sin or some such nonsense.
If that's seen as Catholic-bashing, it's not my intent. But being how the standards have fallen so far, I don't see anybody getting worked up about communion being referred to as a little wine and a little cracker.
That said, he is energizing the conservative base.
He will most likely not be there when the nomination is decided.
I am a Methodist...many in my church are completely asleep. Trump is asleep (he is PCUSA).
Let him stir it up a bit. And then Cruz or Walker will win.
I think it’s a totally boorish remark. But so much of what he says is boorish. Maybe this is his way of trying to “relate” to the “common man.” Or maybe this is how he is all the time.
Only God knows what is in his heart, whether he is sincere, and that’s what really counts, not his word choice.
That said, he is NOT on my list of good candidates. He is in the same reject pile with Bush and Christie.
Well, then you need to lighten up because non-Catholics see it as a little cracker, Catholics I know (including the wife) have referred to it as that, and Trump is attempting to reach the common man and not just sound like a legal-beagle representing Catholicism.
Well, I was raised Pentecostal and we said “body of Christ” “cracker” or “wafer”, depending on how formal you wanted to be. Pretty much only the minister said “body of Christ.”
me too. What? A shot and a cracker offensive? LOL
