Have you ever gone to a national park, and noticed that minorities are not represented in the exact proportions to the general population? Well, the New York Times certainly has! (Can't you imagine a Times reporter getting out of his car in Yosemite, and the first thing he notices is not the breathless beauty around him but the race of the other people in the parking lot?)
The national parks attracted a record 292.8 million visitors in 2014, but a vast majority were white and aging. The most recent survey... found that 22 percent of visitors were minorities, though they make up some 37 percent of the population.
That's a gap of 15%! If there is a racial disparity in any education, job function or even hobby, racism must be involved, seems to imply the New York Times. (Not including, of course, racial disparity in the reporting staff, editorial staff, or owners of the New York Times.)
A neighbor, Carla DeRise, has been to Mount Rainier and other parks, and is game to go again. She just can’t get any of her friends to come along. They are worried about unfriendly white people, hungry critters and insects, and unforgiving landscapes, said Ms. DeRise, 51, an African-American. So she mainly hikes alone, albeit with some anxiety. “I don’t have a weapon,” she quipped. “Yet.”
You see? Black people don't go to national parks for fear of white people. The liberal's racism in this is double fold. First, for caricaturing blacks as being fearful of whites (most aren't). And secondly, by perpetuating racial resentment and hatred by writing about one paranoid black woman who feels she needs a weapon to be safe around white people…

I read another article like this not too long ago. They’re talking about white folks lynching blacks as if it can actually happen, like they really believe that they live in a country where any colored person can be murdered by a mob of rednecks.
Meanwhile, in the real world, 85 percent of black and white violent crime is black ON white. And something like 70 or 80 percent of African-American households are fatherless.
These people need to clean up their own house before they worry about their fantasies of being lynched at a national park.
Yes, I’m sure there is a concerted effort of staff, visitors and white people in general to keep minorities out of the parks.../sarc
Maybe minorities are afraid of “white racism” because of liberal authors like this one who keep telling them that white people are bogeymen who are out to get them.
A lot of “racism” would probably disappear if efforts were made to quash real racist acts, and the subject were otherwise ignored. Too many people enjoy and benefit from being victims, though, to ever give up the racism narrative.
Well, I see their logic because after all, Michelle Obama thinks museums are racist, so it only makes sense to think that national parks are as well. Would not surprise me that there is a movement to add The One’s likeness to Mount Rushmore (and probably remove the other presidents who are there already to make room for him).

I wouldn’t be surprised if the number of black people murdered by other blacks in just one year was actually greater than the number of blacks killed by white supremacists from 1865 until 1965. It’s sad, but it is likely true.
Maybe the park service should sponsor a “Bring a black friend to a Nat’l Park day”. See how that would work...

Maybe they have a better park in their liter strewn front yard, looking at other burned out houses from an old smelly sofa missing all the legs on the front porch. Why would they want anything else? Soon coming to your neighborhood, courtesy of King O!
Last summer we took some friends to Acadia National Park. There was a huge presence of Asians.
It’s a matter of taste, of what different people like. I don’t have any desire to feast on chitlins’, others do. We like to visit state & national parks. If someone doesn’t care for that endeavor enough to JUST DO IT; I can’t make them.
A couple decades ago my then girlfriend and I went to New York’s Bear Mountain. It was a beautiful warm summer day and the scenery, as usual there, was breathtaking. Lush tree-covered mountains, a large serene lake. Then we noticed a large group of inner-city kids apparently brought up from nearby New York City by yellow school buses for the day. Other than the trash and noise, they seemed to be ok. On the way back from an hour or so stroll we saw a lot of police cars. Turned out there was a stabbing. One of the kids stabbed another during a fight.
