Now that the Confederate flag has been used as an excuse to eviscerate the history of the South, others are looking to destroy more symbols that are part of the region’s history, including Louisiana’s fleur-de-lis.
At a meeting of the New Orleans City Council on Thursday, which was open to the public, Rudy Mills, head of the grassroots group Remove Racist Images, spoke in favor of removing the fleur-de-lis symbol, asserting, “Check the history. It’s also a very racist symbol.” In late June, speaking at a rally, he intoned, “The rally is to start a movement to remove all the racist images that surround our city.”

More to the historical record, it was the lily of France, the symbol of the French monarchy. The gist of the complaint amounts to a hatred of France, or the French heritage, which is an expression of bigotry against the French background of many of the people of Louisiana. Or in other words, it is symbolic tribal warfare.

I fear for the French Battle Flag. It is used to make KKK robes, bed sheets also.
Any symbol used by people who are or were identifiably “white” is ipso facto a racist symbol. All symbols of white privilege must be eradicated. That includes grave markers of white people and streets and buildings named after white people and so on, etc., and et al. Center lines on streets must be changed from racist white and yellow to brown or black.
Well, I’m personally deeply gratified that the deaths of the nine innocent Bible studiers in Charleston, gunned down by the deranged nut off his meds, have now been honored and properly recognized by the strong and swift popular action of banning the Confederate flag wherever it be found. There! Ha! All fixed!
Just this morning on a local radio talk call-in show, some guy who said he was the president of some puffy sounding Important Committee, phoned in to demand that Bill Cosby’s star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame be “yanked up by its roots and melted down!” I wasn’t aware the star’s stars actually took root, as a plant would, but I’m not the president of an important citizen’s committee on the public safety; I’m just some little dumb guy hopelessly soaked in his own White Privilege, so nothing I could add or say would have any weight. My white life doesn’t matter, I guess. I am blind, I am stupid, I am a hater, I am ignorant, and I am evil — all by simple definition. My skin tells the only story worth knowing about me. I should be put to death as a “useless eater.” I am a despicable modern day Shylock, a rotten and hateful creature by birth. (Still, “if prick’d, do I not bleed?”)
Are we now to ban anything, anywhere that anybody, anywhere finds offensive?
I predict that in ten years school children (Politically Incorrect? Maybe “Pre-Adult Citizens In Training” would be better?) won’t even be taught there was a “Civil War,”, or a “War Between The States,” or even a “Yankee War Of Aggression. The whole subject will be presented, if at all, as a brief Northern military incursion in force to correct certain
unspecified sociological irregularities taking place in the South. A few brief skirmishes, and the deviant stupid South was set back on a proper course of development. Victory for all. Those poor souls who were killed, all died pointless deaths devoid of meaning and honor and not worthy of any respect or acknowledgement in these more modern and
enlightened times.
We must re-phrase Lincoln for these modern enlightened times. He is now better rendered as, “With charity for none, and malice for all, unlike us, who think differently. You must not only submit: you must approve. You are required to honestly and deeply love Big Brother from the very depths of your soul.
This is the tyranny of the tolerant.
ALL southern state flags are Racist because they are southern state flags. Southern manufactures are racist because they are made in the racist South. All white southerners and Asian immigrants to the South are Racist because they were born in or chose to live in the Racist South and must be eradicated or at least forcibly re-educated.
