Donald Trump is in First Place in GOP Primary Poll
Vox News ^

Posted on 07/09/2015 6:09:00 PM PDT by Din Maker

Donald Trump has been inching upward in the polls lately, and now we finally have one from The Economist and YouGov showing him in a clear first place.

"Trump supporters may be making more of a statement than voting for someone they consider a contender," Kathy Frankovic writes at YouGov. "Just one in five of Trump's supporters think Trump will win the nomination." Other tidbits Frankovic points out are that Trump's supporters tend to back the Tea Party and to identify as "very conservative," and are less likely to be college-educated.

The new poll is probably a bit dispiriting for Jeb Bush, though. He had gotten a small bump to first place in three national polls conducted after his June announcement, and his team clearly hoped this would finally let him break away from the rest of the large field. Now, though, he's down at 11 points, tied for second with Rand Paul. This new poll could be an outlier, or it could be the first sign that Jeb's announcement bounce has worn off. (Bush's fantastic fundraising news should help with any disappointment he feels, though)

But Trump's 15 percent is not a particularly impressive performance in a crowded field — Bush, Scott Walker, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Ben Carson, and Mike Huckabee have all hit or passed that number in at least one poll. Also, Trump hasn't yet led any polls in Iowa or New Hampshire, which are generally more important than national polls. Still, it's national polls that are being used to determine which candidates qualify for the first GOP debate, and Trump clearly makes that cut at this point.

But the big question about whether Trump will show up on stage in Cleveland on August 6 isn't about his polling — it's about whether he'll actually turn in the required financial disclosures to the FEC. As Slate's Josh Voorhees writes, many are skeptical that Trump would publicly disclose so many details of his "business empire." It's up to Trump to prove them wrong.

big enough for his toupee

Here goes...when you run out of counter points, you resort to personal attacks based on appearance. How would you feel if I saw and made some derogatory remarks about your looks? If you did'nt win a beauty contest I am sure I can find something to make fun of.

And further to correct your mis-information, Trump does not wear a toupee.

Did you watch dingbat Jerry Rivers?

He can’t admit 36,000 illegal aliens released by Obama in the last 2 years committed 193 homicides.

Geraldo screams out of 30 million immigrants! 193 homicides out of 30 million! repeating again and again.

Geraldo just lied to everyone’s face without a twinge of remorse.

Hannity had to corrected him about 4 times.

Ann remarked, about another Geraldo BS comment, “you’re not that stupid Geraldo”.

Yes Ann, he’s stupid and he lies.

Trump’s campaign song could be “We Shall Overcomb.”
(Saw that in comments somewhere. Wish I’d thought it up.) : )

Until a week ago I was against Trump running on 3rd party.

But I have changed my mind. If GOPe pushes Trump out, I will now vote Trump/Cruz 3rd party.
Bush, Walker, Rubio, Paul, Huckabee, Perry are all for “comprehensive immigration reform”
which is a code word for legal status to illegals.

I will not do anything to make the illegals become legal.

Yeah, you end up wondering if he wasn’t a doorstep baby. Every time I see him, it reminds me of The Coneheads!

You would have plenty of company.

Bush would finish last in that scenario.

“As Trump himself said the other day, without Ross Perot, nobody today would remember who the Clintons are.”

Boy, isn’t that the truth! Trump has been asked about the third part possibility and he has dismissed the idea. I just imagine that he knows that it would be a waste of time, and i think he really wants to win.

Trump on Greta 2 days ago was asked if he would run 3rd Party?
Trump said he wasn’t thinking about that wants to win the R nomination, but didn’t give a yes or no answer.

I thought at that moment if Jebber Jeb Bush gets the nomination that might be an option.

Trump immediately after ‘the question’ by Greta starts talking about Jeb and Jebber this and Jeb that. So Trump seemed to me be thinking along the same as I that he possibly could run against Jeb and Hellary at the same time.

Against Bush & Hillary, Trump/Cruz ticket will make history. And I have never voted 3rd party since 1972.

Yes, I saw that, too and I despise Jerry Rivers.

He came close to saying Trump lied, but stopped himself.

I’m all but certain, Mr. Trump will see that segment.

I'm actually thinking the plan is somehow a Trump/Walker combo; Cruz can be bought off with a promised SCOTUS nomination. Jeb’s gotta be mighty ticked that ‘his turn’ in the White House isn't going exactly as planned.

But of course, with our screwed up system, it really doesn't matter - all that matters is what Iowa and New Hampshire think. Who's got the best ground team (cookouts, town meetings, handshakes), who bows at the altar of ethanol, and who kisses the most babies.

Pretty cruddy way to select a president.

The first thing Ann Coulter said: “I’m glad that Geraldo has finally admitted that there are 30 million illegals here (instead of the old 11 million number).” He got b**ch slapped.

In my 50 years as adult, I would have never believed a 3rd party has a chance. But in your scenario of Bush-Hillary-Trump, in a 3 way fight, Trump has as good a chance to win as any. If it is Cruz-Hillary-Trump, then Hillary wins by splitting the anti-RINO voters.

Let’s hope the polls are BS too, I don’t get how Ben Carson, Marco Rubio, and Mike Huckabee are ahead of Cruz.
