What if they work but don’t necessarily work ‘hard’? Who decides if their work is hard enough? This is quite a stupid statement on many levels.

Too many people want to argue this issue at the extremes: either give them all legal status (and citizenship), or round them all up and deport them.
Few seem to arrive at a sensible middle ground: no one is rounded up, but start enforcing the law, particularly at the employer level, and whenever an illegal comes in contact with law enforcement they are turned over to ICE and ICE actually does its job and starts deportation procedures.
There would gradually be fewer and fewer illegals due to self-deportation and deporting those who come in contact with law enforcement.

No politician is going to kick out millions of illegals who have been here for a long time. No politician is going to repeal SCOTUScare. No politician is going to overturn gay marriage. No politician is going to overturn Roe vs Wade. Conservatives need to formulate different approaches to these issues.
