Marriage should be now declared a “Church Function” thus it is illegal under the 1st Amendment for a church or other religious institution to legally civilly unite anyone.
What they need to do is like Italy....everyone gets a Justice of the Peace ceremony and then it you want the church wedding it is the next day. It works well and ensures that churches don’t have to perform gay marriages which is what is going to happen very soon if we don’t do something like what Italy does.
